How Are You Thriving?

?

One of our recurring themes this year has been how its challenges have moved us to tap into our strength and creativity in new and perhaps surprising ways.

?

We've devised new ways of doing school - and continue to refine and reinvent as needed. We've reconfigured work. We've found different strategies for maintaining our mental and physical health.

?

This isn't to say it's been easy. There have been ups; there have been downs. Some continue to struggle, especially when it comes to mental well-being. Some of us keep searching for ways to maintain hope, gratitude, and simple happiness at a time when there can seem little reason for them.

?

But if there's one thing this year of crisis has taught us is that we're all in this together, our lives, deeply connected. Those connections can serve as a source of strength, support, and inspiration for others.

?

That's why we'd like to hear from you about your creative solutions to this year's challenges - your thriving strategies through the strange and wild days this year has brought us all.

?

For instance, we joined forces with our neighbors to create summer camps and a fall learning pod for kids, put together a simple exercise band workout area, and took kids on socially distant bike outings around the area. Truth be told, it seemed more fun than work and brought us all closer together, despite the barriers keeping us distant and safe.

?

Tools You Can Use to Address Pandemic - & Other - Stress & Trauma

Even though Thanksgiving has passed, the importance of gratitude goes on.

?

One thing we can be thankful for this holiday season is a COVID vaccine on the near horizon. While it won't bring an instant return to normalcy - Dr. Fauci has said it may be mid-2021 at least before we see something like "normal" again - it does bring something that's been in short supply this year: hope.

?

Another thing that engenders hope is knowing we have the tools to help our students, our children, and ourselves deal with the accumulated trauma - trauma that can amplify that which many have experienced prior to the pandemic or pre-existing mental health concerns.
