The digital divide is causing learning loss for the most vulnerable children

 Lower-income children have been the most impacted by the pandemic – particularly when it comes to online learning. Here’s how: 

• 43% of them are being forced to do schoolwork on their cellphones

Before this year ends, we’re on a mission to change the course of 2020 for thousands of children across the US who are being left behind.

Why the USA and why now?

For vulnerable students across the US, the threat of Covid-19, an education system in crisis, and limited access to traditional resources like libraries and community centers, is widening inequalities.

This has made the need for a simple, accessible distance learning solution more urgent than ever.

This end of year, learn about how we''re supporting vulnerable children.

Starting today, we’ll be working to bring books to under-resourced communities in the US.

Do you think online learning can be as effective as in-person education?

It’s a question that’s been on a lot of minds lately. 

Here’s what we’ve found. 

As I write this, millions of students across the world are having very different “back to school” experiences from what they could have ever imagined. That’s because many students are being taught entirely online as a response to COVID-19.

This global experiment in distance learning during the pandemic will certainly change the world of learning as we know it.

We’ve found that the success of online learning depends greatly on this: the extent to which interpersonal interactions that usually happen in the classroom, can happen online.

Meet Ajay and his youngest daughter.
