Below is a sample of the emails you can expect to receive when signed up to Whats Up Fagans.
Hey there Amelia,
A few days ago I sent you several great pregnancy printables and I'm dying to know how you liked them!
The freebies included a Gender Prediction Quiz (did you take it?), a helpful printable for helping you choose the perfect baby name (have you picked a name yet?), a comparison of the top 5 baby registries and a list of the BASIC baby registry necessities (have you created one or more registries?) and a list with some tips on getting free diapers!
I'd love to have any feedback about them if you're willing, and ask if there was something else you wish I'd included?
In the meantime, I'd love to know where you are at in your pregnancy! Is it your first one? When are you due? Are you prepared, or not so much?
I recently had my fifth child! I had a planned C-section with twins (they were both breech) and now 3 vaginal births, all of large babies. I feel like I know at least a little about this pregnancy thing (though not everything). As such I will be sending you some more great pregnancy-related tips via email in the coming weeks.
Sincerely,
Katelyn Fagan

Hey there Amelia,
With a new year here, and a fresh set of goals and hopes for 2020, it's time to write down those to-do lists and crank out the success...
Right?
Well.... chances are the overwhelm kicks in when we look at our list of hopes, dreams, goals, and resolutions, that we don't even know where to start to make them happen. Our to-do list seems impossibly long, and we're trying to multi-task to get all the things done, and we fail. And then feel guilty about failing, and think "why bother" and then stop even trying to make improvements or be more organized.
Or so it goes if you are like me sometimes.
But, there IS a better way to uplevel your life, get more stuff done, and still thoroughly enjoy your life.
And it starts with you.
Are you ready to commit to yourself? Are you ready to honor yourself? To value your own time? To value your commitments to your future self?
Because, at the end of the day, that's what it takes to "do it all."
I just updated a super important post on my site that I really, really want you to read (and share!).
It's all about how to-do lists are overrated, and what type of list you need instead.
It will walk you through step-by-step how to conquer all the stuff you need to do, how to chuck the list and the overwhelm, and at the end of the day, at the end of the year, at the end of your life, find yourself as the person you've always wanted to be.
Read the post here.
And let me know if you'd like me to share my personal goals with you! I am debating if I should share them all for you. Maybe it would add more accountability for me too if I make them public.
God bless and happy new year!!
Sincerely,
Katelyn Fagan

My husband just earned a PhD in Mathematics Education is just landed his first post-school job teaching Mathematics at West Point Military Academy.
In my "spare time," I like to read books, be active, date my husband, serve in church, veg in front of the TV, hang out with friends, do new things, puzzle, eat brownies, and sleep. ????
Despite various difficulties we've faced over our 10 years of marriage - poverty, twins, graduate school, weight struggles, car accidents, cross-country moves, and more - I like to think we have a pretty great family and are better for the trials we've faced.
We enjoy spending loads of quality time together even if though it's often crazy, and loud, and busy up in here! We don't take ourselves very seriously, and like to have a lot of fun together, joking, and playing, and laughing.
(Display images on this email to see a picture of my cute family below!)
We are passionate about marriage, family, Christ, and improving ourselves. We totally make goals.

Hey there Amelia,
In my last email I shared some of my best pregnancy tips I have on my blog, and I hope you enjoyed looking through them and learning and gleaning some great information.
But, maybe you felt like I didn't discuss something you were wondering about in regards to pregnancy.
Chances are you did, because you know what? Every pregnancy and every birth story is different!
For me, I never experience true morning sickness, mainly just a little food aversion during the first trimester. I also can generally sleep during my pregnancy, don't experience pre-term labor, don't get gestational diabetes, still have energy (after the first trimester) and so on.
I'm like that obnoxious pregnant woman you is also all belly out front and still looks thin otherwise.
It's why I avoid the "Who had it worst" pregnancy debate that seems to happen in large groups of moms.
I don't understand the terribleness that is throwing up all day long or the horror that is pre-term labor and premature birth or even bed rest.
And that's why it's so helpful to ask other moms what their experience with pregnancy was like, not so you can freak yourself out (if it's your first pregnancy), nor to make yourself feel better because you enjoyed your pregnancy and birth more than another mom, but so you can appreciate the differences, and appreciate your own unique, miraculous journey into motherhood, as well as empathize with others who did have it worse.
Two of my very favorite and best blogging buddies are also amazing pregnancy bloggers and I wanted to share them with you! Because every pregnancy is different.
Katie Clark of Clarks Condensed, mom of two boys, has some amazing articles on her blog about things like:
Hilary of Pulling Curls, and mom of 3, has great information on all things medical when it comes to pregnancy and birth because not only is she a blogger, but has been a labor and delivery nurse for 16+ years! She has articles like:
And Hilary also offers an amazing online prenatal class too! Her online prenatal class will have you feeling confidence in the labor room (and can be done on your own schedule).
I really hope that as you go through your pregnancy you will read and absorb the best information available to you so that you are INFORMED and prepared for all realities, just in case.
What have you been reading up on in regard to pregnancy lately? What are you biggest fears and questions and concerns about it?
Sincerely,
Katelyn Fagan

Hey there Amelia,
My husband and I were married for eight months when he convinced me that we should pull the goalie and try to have a baby.
I was so nervous about it and he so excited and sure. I didn’t know why we had to rush into it!
I had just turned 21 years old. We were still in college. We weren’t anywhere near immediate family.
And how would I handle being pregnant and still go to school full-time and do marching band? What if I was horribly sick and miserable? Would I still be able to graduate? And where would we fit a baby in our tiny 1 bedroom 450 square foot apartment?
How would we afford all the stuff a baby needs on our crappy part-time student job income? Couldn’t we wait until after we graduated? After my husband (at least) had his first post-graduate job? And seriously, was I even ready to be a mother? Would I be a good mother??
But, my husband was ready. He was 29 years old and wanted nothing more than to be a father now that he was a husband. He told me over and over again to just have faith. To believe that it would all work out. To trust that God would provide a way for us financially. And he had full confidence that I would be a great mother.
We prayed long and hard about it, attended the temple, fasted, and counted back nine months and figured out the earliest we could conceive and still be able to finish the next school year just fine.
We took a giant leap of faith and stopped using birth control and started trying to have a baby.
A few weeks later there it was: my Clearblue pregnancy test staring back at me and my husband in the bathroom reading “Pregnant.”
It was really happening: we were going to be parents! How terrifying and thrilling at the same time!
Every time I have seen that positive plus sign, or that written “pregnant” when taking an at-home pregnancy test, it is so hard to believe what it really means. I go through a bit of denial every time, questioning that I really am pregnant, though completely aware that it is indeed the truth.
There are just so many questions, so many unknowns when you see that word or that sign. So many doubts. So many fears. So much worry!
The thing about being pregnant is that there are truly so many unknowns. Despite being healthy or young, complications can occur.
Plus, every child is different, and you don’t get to choose the personality and temperament of your child like you did when you chose your spouse. So, you don’t know how life will be once the child comes.
Maybe they’ll have a deformity, disability, or health issues. Maybe they’ll be perfectly healthy at birth, but develop something later. What if they are the complete opposite personality of yourself and you’ll be left not knowing, at all, how best to parent them. The unknowns extend far beyond those initial nine months of pregnancy!
But, there is one great thing about pregnancy tests that indicate you will be having another baby – they are positive. They are happy. They are sure.
And that is what I strive to be – positive, happy, and sure.
I truly believe that every child is a gift. No matter when conceived, where, with who, or under whichever difficult circumstances, every child is a gift, a blessing, a positive. But, it is ultimately up to us to believe that is true.
My husband and I always choose faith when it comes to expanding our family. We choose to believe that a(nother) child will bless our lives and not condemn it, or burden it, or limit it. And our faith has been vindicated as our children have only expanded our love and our happiness.
And my husband was right from the very beginning about when we should try to have a baby.
We both firmly believe that we would not have been blessed the way we were had we not acted upon the promptings we received and moved forward with faith when we did. Because that initial pregnancy test only told us one thing – that we were pregnant.
It didn’t tell us that we were pregnant with two babies. Had we waited an extra month or two before trying, chances are we would not have conceived our fraternal twins daughters.
And despite all the extra stress, worry, and difficulties that came and come with raising twins, they are two amazing individuals that we could not imagine our life without.
Because being a mother is the greatest calling I have been given, the greatest mission of my life. Motherhood makes me happier than I have ever known. Motherhood is as much a part of my identity as is woman. I am immensely loved by my children and my spouse. I have a fantastic life even if to many it seems messy, or crazy, or frugal, or stupid.
I would not trade having my children, when we did, for all the money in the world, for a house, more degrees, better cars, or world travel. Because, parenthood and family is the great purpose of my life, not things or wealth or experiences.
So, despite all the hard realities of parenting, all the expenses, all the stress, heartache, and long nights, pregnancy and motherhood are the great positives of my life.
And I hope it is for you too.
Sincerely,
Katelyn Fagan

Hey there Amelia,
I adore toddlers. They are some of the cutest people on the earth. But, if someone asks me what my favorite and least favorite ages are for kids, I always say that from about 12-30 months is not my favorite age.
And guess what?
I currently have another toddler in this age range, and it's not my favorite. Again.
I mean, she's as cute as ever and I adore her hugs and "I love you too" but man alive does she destroy everything, make a trail of mess behind her, cry about nothing, strip down and take off her diaper, and this week, learned how to unzip her crib tent (which we bought less than a month ago because she was constantly climbing out of her crib at nap time and bedtime) from the inside.
So, yeah.... toddlers. Nuf said.
If you have a baby or toddler still in diapers, I have a super helpful post for you about diaper sizing by weight and age, complete with a chart and everything.
If you like doing fun things with your children, grandchildren, or students, there is an amazing opportunity coming up to fully take advantage of: February 29! This year, 2020, is a Leap Year! So, why not spend the extra day doing something extra amazing, full of leaps, bounds, and new heights!
Check out my list of 29+ leap year activities just for kids, and then check out my other post of 29+ ideas to celebrate leap year for adults!
And in case you needed a stronger argument to really be involved in your child's life, read this post.
*Oh, and if you are looking to be healthier this year, lose weight, gain muscle, eat better, whatever you call it, you shouldtry out the Noom app! I tried it out last year and it does a great job of helping you overcome a lot of those inner negative self-doubt talks about your relationship with food, and healthier habits, etc. It may not be the perfect fit for everyone, but it's worth checking out!
Until next time! God bless!

Hey there Amelia,
Most pregnant moms go, go, go all day, especially if they have multiple kids (like me), so it’s essential to get quality rest in the evenings to have enough energy to do it all again the next day.
However, sometimes sleeping during pregnancy isn’t as easy as it sounds. Pregnant women deal with leg cramps, heartburn, snoring, and frequent trips to the bathroom at night which can really affect their sleep cycles.
If you are looking for advice on how to sleep during pregnancy for more than a few minutes at a time, you’ll love this post! I cover pregnancy sleeping positions, pregnancy sleep pillows, sleeping aids during pregnancy, and dealing with heartburn, needing to pee, and more reasons why you can’t sleep during pregnancy!
Ultimate Guide to Sleeping During Pregnancy
So, how you sleeping lately? Any tips that work for you?
Sincerely,
Katelyn Fagan

Hey there Amelia,
Ever heard the adage knowledge is power?
When it comes to labor and delivery, it's totally true.
When you are better prepared for all the different scenarios of labor and delivery, and know your options, and understand the pros and cons of various interventions, you are way more empowered in your birthing experience.
While things may still end up not going as planned, chances are you will be WAY more calm and far less stressed during the change in events. And THAT can make a huge difference in your overall birth experience.
Because, while what we all ultimately care about is a healthy baby and a healthy mom, how your birth goes greatly affects mom...
If you are interested in equipping yourself with some serious laboring and birthing knowledge, I highly recommend checking out my friend Hilary's Online Prenatal Class.
Hilary is the perfect person to walk you through everything you need to know about childbirth because she has been a labor and delivery nurse for 16+ years!! She knows what she is talking about and has pretty much seen and heard it all! And with her medical knowledge and background, you can rest assured she is giving you expert advice.
The great benefit of her class is that it's online and can be done on your own schedule.
Did you know I have never taken a full-on birthing or prenatal class? I've always wanted to (for each pregnancy) and I even think my insurance would have covered the cost, but finding the time that fit both my schedule and my husband's schedule and didn't conflict with any other activities we had planned (or having to find childcare) was always impossible!
This online prenatal course is great because you can work on it in small chunks, on your own time, or mad dash through it the last minute if that's your style too.
Her full course also offers access to her personally should you have any additional questions!
And thankfully she's super down-to-earth, funny, and totally non-judgmental. She wants you to have the birth you desire, no pressure to choose a certain method or course of action.
If you haven't taken a prenatal class yet,I highly recommend signing up for hers now! I loved it!
And, bonus! Because you are one of my awesome subscribers, you can receive 10% off any of her courses/products with code FAGANS10.
Sign Up for Hilary's Online Prenatal Class
*If you aren't ready for the full course, or want to sample a bit of the course, she offers a FREE Beginning Prenatal class as well!
Sincerely,
Katelyn Fagan

Hey there Amelia,
I have no idea why maternity clothes are so expensive.
Okay, that's not true. I know exactly why they are - to poach upon women who need new clothes, for a very short period of time.
I remember trying to shop for maternity clothes in various stores and it was always... well... depressing. The selection was very limited. The costs very high. The style often very lack-luster.
And then some of the stores I finally did find a few good pieces discontinued their maternity departments altogether!
Being rather poor while having our kids, we didn't have $200-600+ for new maternity clothes.
Some women can get away with wearing sweat pants, over-sized T-shirts (or their husband's shirts) for their entire pregnancies. But, my belly gets enormous and there's no way that would work for me for nine whole months. Plus, for my first pregnancy I was going to school the whole time, and didn't want to look like a complete slob (a tad vain, I know, but pregnant women don't want to look like giant blimps).
So we bought the bare minimum in terms of wardrobe (like 3 pairs of jeans, one skirt, one dress, seven or eight shirts), mostly from Old Navy, using additional savings promos.
The clothes are Old Navy boring, fast fashion quality, but they worked well enough, even if my belly was peaking out from underneath.
I also borrowed a few maternity clothes from a friend. Most of my friends in college though hadn't had kids yet, so there weren't many people to ask.
Often in the first trimester I try to wear my regular jeans/bottoms and secure them with a rubber-band or elastic hair tie. It's not ideal, and I have to make sure I wear long enough shirts so people don't realize my zipper isn't zipped up all the way!
That's why it can be super smart to instead invest in The Belly Button band which buttons right into your jeans but covers your zipper and your belly too. It helps keeps your pants up, and supports your belly. And means you can wear your regular pants (assuming your hips don't expand too much!) throughout much of your pregnancy, saving you a bunch of money.
You can use the promo code “ENBABY” for 2 FREE Belly Button Bands or 1 FREE Belly Button Body ($40 Value). All you pay are the $11.95 SP&S fees! That's much less than the cost of a single pair of maternity jeans!
For more great ideas about how to get free, cheap, secondhand, or otherwise find maternity clothes, be sure to check out my full post about Where to Get Maternity Clothes that Rock but Don't Break the Bank.
Find Affordable Maternity Clothes
Also, this last pregnancy, I got adventurous and tried a few different subscription services for maternity clothes! Check out my reviews:

Katelyn Fagan
