Hi,
What's your take on 2020?
Us? We reckon it's the year it dawned on everyone that a browser is... everything.
We work in the browser, we collaborate, we communicate. It's where we learn and have fun. It's also where we create and build.
Luckily, the browser we're building is up to the job - a browser like no other.
In 2020, we stuck to our guns and shipped seven desktop and six Android versions. Each update rolled out new customization options and built-in features.
? We worked with you every step of the way - listening instead of harvesting your data. We knew that even though we don't track you, others on the web do. So for Vivaldi 3.0 we partnered with DuckDuckGo for a built-in Tracker blocker and introduced a built-in Ad blocker.
? We stepped it up with fully customizable menus, introduced a full-blown Notes Manager, Break Mode, and polished flagship features such as tabs and spatial navigation. Psst, overall, there are more than 1 million ways to make Vivaldi yours. ??
? We solved issues related to media and playback so that you can stream smoothly. We revisited Pop-out Video adding better controls.
? Vivaldi on Android stepped out of beta! ?? Different from the pack, it adjusts to your preferences and workflow. You can already customize it quite a bit.
? With its awesome support for Linux, Vivaldi continued to grow on this platform. 20% of new installs of Vivaldi on desktop are now on Linux!
? And we kept pushing till the end. In November, we introduced Vivaldi Mail, Vivaldi Feed Reader, and Vivaldi Calendar to our desktop version in technical preview. Test them all here!
What a year!
As our founder and CEO, Jon von Tetzchner put it in his end-of-year message, "2020 has humanized the way of working in entirely new ways, not just at Vivaldi but all over. We've all learned a bit more about humanity while being apart."
Bring on 2021!
