Message from Tourism Council WA CEO
The Australian tourism industry is united in support of the communities affected by devastating bushfires. Our thoughts are with all those affected at this time.
The bushfires have severely impacted many regional tourism destinations across Australia. The worldwide publicity will impact all of Australian tourism.
Tourism Council WA, working with the other State tourism councils as the Australian Tourism Industry Council, is working with the Federal Government on national bushfire recovery initiatives to assist Australian tourism. It is important that we tell the world that Australia remains open for business.
In time, as an industry, we must work together to ensure the effective recovery of bushfire affected areas, including by encouraging visitors back to these communities, as well as recovering the perception of Australia in overseas markets as a great leisure destination.
Tourism Council WA Chief Executive Officer Evan Hall

TCWA Submission for 2020 State Budget
Tourism Council WA has made a submission to the State Government ahead of the 2020 State Budget, outlining budget priorities for the tourism industry. The submission focuses on recommendations to maintain and drive jobs growth through tourism.
Submission overview:
- The increased funding in marketing and events, advocated by Tourism Council WA, has recovered international and interstate tourism in 2019.
- A relative lack of events in 2020 and any cessation of the increased marketing funding will result in a decline in tourism in 2020.
- Tourism Council WA is calling on the State Government to maintain momentum with increased funding for international and domestic markets. Tourism Council WA is proposing a consistent long-term funding increase for Tourism WA of $25 million per annum for the next four years.
- Funding should be focused on developing a consistent long-term calendar of tourism events, continued aviation development and leisure tourism marketing.
- This funding could deliver tourism growth and an additional 30,000 jobs by 2023-24, consistent with the State Government jobs target.

Holiday in WA Campaign Update - Regional Advertising

Over Christmas and into the January school holidays, Tourism Council WA's Holiday in WA campaign has targeted intrastate travellers while in-market through regional TV, radio and digital advertising.
This has resulted in consistent traffic to the updated Holiday in WA website, where consumers can search for Quality Tourism Accredited Businesses.
Next, the campaign will target metropolitan audiences considering Easter bookings, prompting them to book with Quality Tourism Accredited Businesses.
How you can leverage the Holiday in WA campaign:
- If you're a Quality Tourism Accredited Business, ensure you have updated your Accreditation logo across all assets, including printed material, website, and building and vehicle signage;
- Quality Tourism Accredited Businesses should ensure their ATDW listing is up to date, as the Holiday in WA website pulls images and descriptions from ATDW;
- If your business is not a Quality Tourism Accredited Business, register for the program and meet the standard to gain access to the logo and other program benefits. More information is available here.
If you require assistance with any of the above, please contact an Industry Advisor on 9416 0700 or via email.
