One of the most common questions is “why are my tracked installs different from my reported installs?” This is the entire point of attribution! Read why here and find the most common differences between tracked and reported installs here.

Here is a trick to validate your Marketing Channels are set up correctly.

Go to the Channels tab. If you see one of the sources flagged in red, it means that something in the setup of the channel is missing (see screenshot below). As a result, you won't receive aggregated data like spend or reported clicks for such channels.

To fix it, select “Edit” and update missing parameters. Common empty fields are credentials, API keys, AD Account ID, etc.

Let’s set up your Campaigns properly! Linking campaigns is an ongoing process that ensures we can attribute the right campaign to the right app. Here’s a forum post detailing the steps.

Ensure that you don’t have any unlinked campaigns. Unlinked campaigns are campaigns that aren't associated with an app. This warning message is shown on the main dashboard. 

Why does your account have Unlinked Campaigns?

There are two situations that can lead to Unlinked Campaigns:  

• An ad network's reporting API or csv doesn't provide us with enough information to determine which app the campaign is advertising. When this happens, you'll need to manually link these campaigns to the correct apps.  

• A campaign is not advertising an app (for example, a web campaign). These campaigns often show up for Facebook and Google accounts. In these cases, you should use the unlinked campaigns tool to hide these campaigns.

How do you fix unlinked campaigns?

You can determine which app a campaign belongs to by looking at the values in the "Platform" and "Name" columns. In cases where the Name and Platform are not sufficient to determine the app, you can try using the value in the "Remote Campaign ID" column to match with a campaign on the ad network dashboard.

To link multiple campaigns to an app, select all the campaigns that you want to link to an app, then select the app in the "Select Destination App" in the dropdown selector at the top of the page and click the "Link Selected" button.

To hide multiple campaigns, select all of the campaigns that you want to hide, then click the "Hide Selected" button. Hidden campaigns will not show up in your reports.

How do I prevent unlinked campaigns?

Associating unlinked campaigns with apps can be a tedious process, especially when you're running a lot of campaigns. Tenjin is constantly inspecting ad network APIs and looking for ways to retrieve details about campaigns. You can also use the following best practices to increase the odds that your campaigns will be automatically linked:

1. Include the name of the app in the campaign name

2. Include the platform in the campaign name
