HTML/CSS |
UCode students master
HTML/CSS to create truly impressive websites from first principles. This isn''t
simply drag and drop web development using templates. We teach students using pure code, without any
assistance from tools or pre-made components. As students progress, JavaScript is used to add a dynamic
component to the web page and make elements on a web page interactive. This is an excellent course for high school and junior high school students as they are at an age where they have a strong desire to create and express their ideas. |
Python Fundamentals |
Python is a high level programming language that has become a standard in industry and is extensively used in the commercial world. Google and Facebook are built on Python, as well as most of the natural language processing libraries (NLP) driving machine learning.
It is also the standard for entry level classes at all of the Ivy League and UC System. It is a great resume builder for university. You will learn Python use a Native IDE.
This is CS100 level coding. |
Java Fundamentals |
Java is a widely used programming language expressly designed for use in the distributed environment of the internet. It is the most popular programming language for Android smartphone applications and is also among the most favored for the development of edge devices and the internet of things. It is also the language used for AP Computer Science A or Methods. We do not know when the next AP CS exam will be, but we do know it will be about Java. Want a 5 on your CS AP? Lets start now! |

Need To Know Information |
What are the classes like? |
Classes are 60 minutes in duration. Classes are conducted on-line through our student portal where students access course materials, as well as a live video link to their Instructor. You simply sign in with a browser and start your class. |
What is your class size? |
Class sizes are small. We typically have 6 students per class. |
Is there homework? Grading? |
Assessment is a fundamental principal at UCode and an area we focus on. There are quizzes, reviews and exercises to show mastery of the material. But no, we do not "grade". There is work outside of the class sessions. |
What if I miss a class? |
If you miss a specific class or you wish to review a concept you covered previously, you can simple reserve a seat in the next class as long as it is in your billing cycle. |
Can I get support outside of class time? |
We have "Office Hours" daily where you can meet one on one with a Instructor to answer your questions or review concepts taught in class. |
Who are your Instructors? |
Instructors are university students or graduates from leading universities including Cornell, Stanford, UCLA, USC, etc. We train and work with our imstructors to continue to develop their skills through professional development, best practices sharing, observation and feedback. |
Will I receive a certificate? |
UCode students who plan to attend university may also wish to participate in the Cornell University assessment on coding and computational thinking (additional cost). Students who qualify through an examination will be issued a certificate directly from Cornell University. This is significant way to build your resume in support of your application. |
When are your class times? |
We have 75 classes this week so there are plenty of options. If a class is full we will add a second or a third! Classes are in the late morning and afternoon Pacific Standard Time. |
What if I have coding experience? |
We will assess your level and place you in a more advanced course. We have a wide range of advanced courses in Python, Java, JSS. |
How much does a course cost? |
Courses are $178 per month. There is nothing additional to purchase. This is a subscription that renews monthly, but you may cancel anytime. You may take any of the courses or a combination of courses during your membership period. |
How do I sign up? |
Click on the Orange Button in the email and enter your credit card details. You will receive a email with registration details and directions on how to sign up for a onboarding session with an Academic Director to answer questions and select a class. |
What technology do I need at home? |
You will
need:
1). A computer with a keyboard and headset - almost all laptops bought within the last five years ago should have these; 2). A web browser installed; Chrome is recommended. 3). A reliable internet connection. There is no software to download or to purchase. |
