Real Ale Events return to the Great Hall from Thursday 30 January - Saturday 1 February, expect up to 200 different real ales and ciders alongside an indoor gin garden with a selection of boutique gins, spirits, wine and prosecco. Whatever your tipple, we’ve got it covered.

Brahms Violin Concerto

Our orchestra in residence, Orchestra dell'Arte, mark their return for 2020 with the first performance of their Painting Pictures & Telling Tales season of matinee performances on Saturday 23 February...

The main work in this concert is the brilliant and uncompromisingly forceful Violin Concerto by Johannes Brahms. Soloist, Jack Liebeck, takes on this masterful classic, while Elgar's Cockaigne and the Sylvia ballet by Léo Delibes also feature within this performance.
 

Kitty: Queen of the Washhouse

ArtsGroupie presents, “KITTY: Queen of the Washhouse” a celebration of one of our own famed Liverpudlians, Kitty Wilkinson (1786–1860), whose community efforts for public hygiene helped stem the outbreak of cholera, leading to the opening of the first combined washhouse and public baths in the United Kingdom.

Having sold out in it's inaugural year at St George's Hall, the play returns with matinee and evening performances on Saturday 7 March.

Saturday 28 March sees St George's Hall welcome back this popular event, which is also set to return in September 2020.
 

Roger McGough: joinedupwriting

On Wednesday 22 April, St George's Hall Charitable Trust present Roger McGough - the author of over a hundred poetry books for adults and children - as he brings an exuberant new collection of poems called joinedupwriting, which ranges from forgotten friendships and the idiosyncrasies of family life to the trauma of war and contemporary global politics. 

Roger will be supported in the first part of the event by Olympic composer Luke Carver Goss, who will present a hilarious night of words, music & breath-taking comedy, featuring songs, stories and a musical created out of thin air! Bard of Barnsley, Ian McMillan, who is Poet-in-Residence for Barnsley FC and a regular on BBC Breakfast, will also be in attendance.
 

St George's Day Proms

Join us in the Great Hall on St George’s Day - Thursday 23 April - for a rousing, ‘Best of British’ celebration of some of the finest music composed on these shores.

Professor Ian Tracey on the Willis Organ, Mezzo Soprano Danielle Louise Thomas and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Chamber Choir will lead you on a musical journey through green and pleasant lands.

Embracing British music in all its rich diversity, from Land of Hope and Glory through to Rule Britannia, this celebration of patriotic classics will be an unforgettable evening of pomp and ceremony.

Today, we''re thrilled to announce that Croxteth Hall will be running Guided Tours every Friday, starting from this week! From Friday 28 August right through to Friday 18 December, our knowledgeable guides are ready to take you back through the life and times of this historic Grade II listed building, which is set within 500 acres of woodland, pastures, ponds and streams which make up Liverpool's very own country park.

Learn all about how Croxteth Hall - which was once the stately home of the Molyneux Family, the Earls of Sefton - has expanded since it was first constructed in the 16th century; transforming over the centuries from an Elizabethan hunting lodge to the elegant building you see today.

As well as taking in the sights of this beautiful country estate, you will also get a flavour of the "upstairs, downstairs" way of living which existed at the Hall... Downton Abbey, eat your heart out!

In order to guarantee your safety, we have reduced tour numbers and introduced protective measures, in line with government guidelines.

As of today (Wednesday 2 December), Covid-secure ceremonies up to a maximum of 15 people - comprising of the couple and 13 guests - are available again at St George''s Hall and Liverpool Town Hall. Both Halls had to close for ceremonies during #Lockdown2, but have been made available again under Tier 2 restrictions, following the success of Liverpool''s Mass Testing Pilot.

A Christmas Carol at St George''s Hall

A Christmas Carol has been inspiring the world for over 175 years. Ginificent Productions return with the most respectful theatre adaptation of this famous Dickens' tale. Hosted in the magical St George's Hall Concert Room, the play will once again take place on the very stage which Charles Dickens graced numerous times to recite his books.

Social distancing measures will be in place, so we advise all who are interested to read carefully before purchasing tickets.
 

And finally...

Croxteth Hall may remain closed for Guided Tours and other indoor commercial events for the time being, but we''re immensely pleased of the efforts which our team and armed forces personnel have gone to since becoming a Mass Testing site on Friday 13 November. The date may be unlucky for some, but for us, it marked the start of a hugely positive period which has made Liverpool more safe, and has allowed the entire city region enter Tier 2 restrictions.

So, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank the armed forces, we thank our staff and we thank all those who have got themselves tested and helped our city return to a safer and slightly more normal state. There''s still a long way to go, but the good news is that Croxteth Hall will remain open for Mass Testing until further notice (and updates will be posted on social media, prior to any future service changes with regards to testing).

So, come on Liverpool! Do it for yourself, your colleagues, your friends and your family. Do it for your city #LetsGetTested!

We understand that this is a highly disruptive, frustrating and emotionally draining time for all Brides and Grooms To Be, so we want to help out as much as we can. Steps we are taking include the introduction of cancellation and date change options for those who have already booked with us, but can no longer honour their chosen date due to the latest restrictions.

Visitor Notice from Liverpool City Halls

Due to the unprecedented situation in relation to Coronavirus, it is with a heavy heart but the best intentions that Liverpool's City Halls (St George's Hall, Liverpool Town Hall and Croxteth Hall) have taken the decision to close their doors until further notice. The City Halls team apologises for any inconvenience caused and hopes to resume normal service with all respective events and activities as soon as possible.

Please note, as it is a statutory service, Liverpool Register Office will continue to offer a limited service. Liverpool Register Office is accessible via the Visitor Entrance of St George's Hall on St John's Lane, and more information regarding the team's services can be found at https://liverpool.gov.uk/births-marriage-deaths.
