A reminder to submit your profile for the new format Women in Renewables Speakers Guide by this Friday 11 September 2020.

The Speakers Guide showcases the breadth of female talent across the renewable energy sector and is a respected and well-used industry resource. 

We are improving the Speakers Guide and have moved to an online format. As part of the refresh we are reaching out to all existing women in the Speakers Guide and asking that you please re-submit your entry in the new format web form. For women not listed in the guide, now is a great opportunity to step up and put yourself forward in the new Speakers Guide. Please submit your applications here. 

We are looking at launching this fantastic online resource to industry, event organisers and media in the next six weeks once we have updated it with profiles of women across the industry. Please get your profiles in by Friday 11 September 2020.

Australia''s premier large-scale solar event is back in 2021.

Join us in Brisbane for the industry''s first in-person event for 2021, the Large-scale Solar Forum. The event will bring together the industry''s leading technical experts for a day of knowledge sharing and networking.

The Large-scale Solar Forum is back for 2021, providing industry professionals with the opportunity to get together for the first time in over 12 months. 

The event will feature all of the technical content it is well known for and remains an essential professional development opportunity for anyone interested in large-scale solar. Mingle with the brightest in the business and reflect on the industry''s impressive progress over the last 12 months, despite the year''s challenges. Let''s join together to discuss the opportunities for the future as Australia''s clean recovery builds momentum. 

The Large-scale Solar Forum will be held in person at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and online, with sessions live-streamed on the day and available as recordings to ticket holders after the event.

The Women in Renewables program invites both men and women to attend Resilience in Renewables, a webinar exploring how the renewable energy industry can remain resilient in the face of uncertainty.

If 2020 has taught us anything, it's how to remain resilient when confronted with adversity. As we look towards A Clean Recovery and what it means for our industry and the economy, resilience will be one of the most important attributes in accelerating Australia's renewable energy transition. How does the renewable energy industry remain resilient in the face of uncertain and variable demand? How do we remain resilient when encountering grid connection bottlenecks out of our control? How do we build resilience in the face of unpredictable federal energy policy?

These are just some of the questions that will be answered in this not-to-be-missed Women in Renewables online event.

Throughout the webinar, attendees will be encouraged to take part in small group discussions to share the challenges they have faced and outline the strategies, policies and actions they have employed to build and foster resilience. The crucial role that diversity can play in fostering and enhancing resilience will also be openly discussed.

Welcome to the September issue of the Women in Renewables newsletter. A lot has happened since we last wrote to you in March! We, like everyone else, have had to move our events online. In August we held our first Women in Renewables webinar 'Mainstreaming Gender', which covered the latest international research into the gender gap in renewable energy and how to increase female representation in trade jobs. We also trialed our first online networking event, and were blown away by the number of women who registered for networking, with almost 200 women joining us on the day! This was a timely reminder of what a talented and wise bunch of women we have in our industry and the appetite there is for connection and collaboration. We will soon be announcing the next networking event, so watch this space.

Women and Leadership Australia scholarships

Women and Leadership Australia are offering the energy sector female leadership scholarships. The opportunity provides energy sector women with funding of between $1,000 and $5,000 to undertake a range of leadership development programs commencing in coming months. The deadline to apply has been extended to 25 September. You can find more information here.

Welcome to our final newsletter for 2020.

Many of us spent 2020 participating in the world's largest 'work from home' experiment, others amongst us have had to 'down tools' for long periods, deal with disrupted supply chains and much more. We've all had challenges, some different, but collectively unprecedented.

For those in our industry based in offices, 2020 has accelerated a transition in the way we work and firmly won any debate there was over whether remote working was possible. Hopefully, this will start a broader conversation about the role and benefits of flexibility, which we hope will enable more women to thrive in our industry.

We wish everyone some rest and downtime over the Christmas period and look forward to achieving even greater things together in 2021.
