Hello James,
In this extended time of uncertainty, disruption and upheaval, taking good care of ourselves is more essential than ever.
We also recognize that it''s a privilege to be able to rest, recharge or disconnect and that the notion of self-care puts the onus on the individual. We know that the systems we are embedded in very much impact people''s experience and also their access to resources and supports for self-care.
In consideration of all of this, finding ways to care for ourselves in whatever measure possible allows us to recharge so we can continue to support others and show up for the important things needing our attention right now, including some of the systemic and institutional problems we face.
However you choose to do so, attending to your own experience with mindfulness and compassion and being aware of the need for rest, nourishment and renewal is, "a radical act of love," to borrow a phrase from mindfulness teacher Jon-Kabat Zinn.
This month we would like to encourage you to be "radical" about practicing self-care. To help, below you''ll find a recharge toolkit we have assembled with resources, tips and ways to take care of yourself.
Please also consider joining our Adaptive Resilience program next week, or one of our free events, including the Bridge to Better webinar with SIY Teacher Michelle Maldonado and Pause and Practice, a 30-minute session of guided meditation, personal reflection and group sharing.
We know that in the swirl and busy-ness of life, especially under our current circumstances, it is sometimes too easy to forget to take care of ourselves.
That's why we encourage you to disrupt any routines that don't serve you and practice your own version of "radical self-care."
We are here to support you on the journey.
Onward and deeper together, friends.
Kind regards,

Rich Fernandez
