This year I presented at the IFS Preconference Institute alongside Lissa Riskin, Lou Lukas, and Howard Schubiner. Our presentation, “IFS as a Potential Treatment for Physical Illness: Healing Parts that Make Us Sick” was a powerful workshop and I’m very grateful to my colleagues and to the other pre-conference presenters— Patricia Rich, Deirdre Fay, John Palmer, Kate Lingren, Ann Drouilhet, Judi Zoldan and Rina Dubin—for a fabulous job of making the Pre-Conference sessions rich in content and valuable for all in attendance. The two plenaries on Friday and Saturday morning were peak experiences for me. On Friday, Hailan Guo and Joy Huang from Beijing, China have adapted IFS into what they call Inner Peace Coaching and demonstrated its potential for impacting their culture on a mass scale! Saturday’s plenary featured four IFS therapists who shared how they integrate IFS with their specialties—both within and beyond psychotherapy—in ways that richly demonstrated the limitless and effective applications of IFS across disciplines and communities. Many thanks to Sarah Houy, Deran Young, Caitlin Capistran and Bob Grant for your amazing presentations! This was a big year for the IFS Conference, we moved across country, we welcomed many new conference attendees into the community, we officially launched our new name – IFS Institute - and for the first time we LIVE streamed parts of the conference. It was amazing to have so many people join us from around the country and around the world. These recordings are now available for sale. CLICK HERE Additionally, we are now releasing a recorded workshop with Cece Sykes – [Almost] Everyone Experiences Addictive Processes: How IFS Offers Compassion and Clarity—and Healing. A valuable conference experience that is available online for the first time, now! . It’s hard to imagine topping this one next year but we will certainly try! 2020 Call for Workshop Proposals Pre-Conference Institute: Thursday, October 8th IFS Conference: October 9-10th Sheraton Denver Downtown, Denver Colorado IFS Institute is now accepting proposals for the 2020 IFS Conference in Denver, Colorado. IFS Trainers, IFS practitioners and therapists and all IFS Training graduates are invited to submit a proposal for our next conference. The IFS Conference offers three days of workshops and programming to those interested in learning about or expanding their knowledge of the IFS Model.

Dear IFS Community, As we enter a new year and new decade there is no shortage of exciting IFS news to share! Below you'll find some IFS Institute announcements, a training opportunity, a conference reminder, and more! First, we are delighted to announce the launch of our new website www.IFS-institute.com. As interest in IFS has grown over the last several years, it was imperative we build a new home and platform for the model and our work at IFS Institute. This has been a big project that will continue to evolve and we are thrilled to have this out in the world. We are also pleased to welcome two wonderful new people onto the IFS Institute team. Joining us as our International Training Director is Luis Vega. Luis will lead our international department, including responsibility over all our international training programs and the corporate development of the IFS Institute outside USA and Canada. Deran Young joins us as our first Online Ambassador. Deran is fairly well known around the IFS community for her passion towards ALL parts being welcomed. She is trained in IFS (Level 1 & Level 2), frequently serves as a program assistant and has conducted several workshops/presentations on the topic of IFS and Diversity. She is also an experienced social media spokesperson. We are grateful to have them both assist us in our mission of bringing Self leadership to the world. |

What can you do within our community?
"Calling people out or in for expressing racist statements can be Self led -- it requires a lot of courage and clarity and often involves treading this balance of expressing the truth, and tracking what the other person can hear and internalize without going beyond their window of tolerance."
I can’t know what it is to be in this world as a black person, but we are getting how much black Americans are hurting and tired of feeling marginalized and living with constant fear. Tired of justice and mercy denied. Tired of suffering for this legacy burden that pervades our culture and sits in our hearts. There is no better time to find that trailhead of racism and unburden as much of it as you can. I hope to lead or participate in events where we work on that collectively. I believe IFS can do that and have had some good experiences so far with small groups |
