William,
You have gotten a chance to peek at the mechanics of Roll20, so now it’s time to get to the fun part: playing with others!
If you’re like me and my friends that started the Roll20 program (we call ourselves the Orr Group), you might already have a group of comrades in mind for your adventure. In that case, starting is INCREDIBLY easy.
The person who starts the game can send out email invites via the Invite Players button on your Game Details page OR by simply sharing the unique link generated. You’ll have options to broadcast video and/or voice via the interface.
Now, what if you don’t already have a party to play with or could use an extra member? First, you can adjust your Public Profile to show others what sorts of games you want to play. You can also advertise and discover games via the Looking for Group System. Search by game, audio/visual preference, language, keywords, day, frequency, and approximate starting time. Finally, if you're looking to add one more to your group, you might search the Player Directory for users who are seeking to join a group for your game.
In addition, you can also drop by the Community Forums and check out the Looking for Group Board. While the LFG System offers you in depth searching, the Board gives you a barrage of posts listed by recent activity.
Hopefully these tips can help in bringing the perfect group around your online gaming table!
Respectfully,
Nolan T.
