Introduction
This webinar provides examples of best practice in survey research, mainly based on the European Social Survey, a longitudinal face-to-face study that has run for 20 years in more than 30 European countries. These experiences address sampling, nonresponse, translation, measurement, fieldwork and other elements from the survey life cycle.

Ineke Stoop - Retired, formerly Head of Methodology at The Netherlands Institute for Social Research

Ineke Stoop retired from her job on the 14^th of July 2019. Until then she was Head of Methodology at The Netherlands Institute for Social Research?SCP, a government agency which conducts research into the social aspects of all areas of government policy. She also was Deputy Director Methodological of the European Social Survey and Chair of the European Statistical Advisory Committee.

Dr Stoop obtained her Ph.D. in social sciences from Utrecht University for a thesis on survey nonresponse. She has taught courses on nonresponse, survey design and comparative surveys, and has authored articles, chapters and books on the same topics. In 2018 she was co-editor of a Wiley monograph titled Advances on Comparative Survey Methodology.

A Tool for Uncertain Times

Social Media Insight 101: adding a new perspective to audience insights

Social Media conversations can be an extremely useful source of consumer insights and in particular for audience understanding. Social Media insight may be perceived as an easy discipline but it requires skill, flair and understanding of the medium to derive truly actionable insights. In this webinar we will examine the approaches, the pitfalls and the outcomes of social media insights with examples focused on audience understanding.

Gaelle has over 15 years' experience in consumer research and analysis, gained agency-side at TNS, SDL/Alterian, Dunnhumby and Coca-Cola.

Consumer insights has been my passion for over 15 years. After earning my stripes at TNS (now Kantar World Panel) working on its consumer panels, I expanded my consumer research and insight development skills working on a variety of projects for FMCG, technology, financial services and public sector organisations using a wealth of qual and quant techniques.

Lately my focus has been on using social media research (social media analysis and online communities) alongside traditional research techniques to deliver insights. I now head up the US/EMEA social media research hub at Kantar Media (formerly Precise).

These experiences address sampling, nonresponse, translation, measurement, fieldwork and other elements from the survey life cycle.

Ineke Stoop - Retired, formerly Head of Methodology at The Netherlands Institute for Social Research

Ineke Stoop retired from her job on the 14^th of July 2019. Until then she was Head of Methodology at The Netherlands Institute for Social Research?SCP, a government agency which conducts research into the social aspects of all areas of government policy. She also was Deputy Director Methodological of the European Social Survey and Chair of the European Statistical Advisory Committee.

Dr Stoop obtained her Ph.D. in social sciences from Utrecht University for a thesis on survey nonresponse. She has taught courses on nonresponse, survey design and comparative surveys, and has authored articles, chapters and books on the same topics. In 2018 she was co-editor of a Wiley monograph titled Advances on Comparative Survey Methodology.

in our Online Data Analytics Workshops starting 10 November

In this new learning format, we'll focus on one topic each week for 4 weeks.
