Hello RET Community,

We send you this note as we are overwhelmed with grief and outrage at the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Brionna Taylor and others by police and vigilantes. Our hearts are with their families. We stand in solidarity with people and communities who are protesting - saying "enough" to state-sanctioned violence, and declaring that Black Lives Matter. All of this is happening while we are in the middle of a global pandemic that is disproportionately harming Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities, and being blamed on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders who are experiencing an increase of racist acts against them.

We must continue our work for racial justice. We must work to address the roots of white supremacy. We must reimagine a future that is just and loving. And we must do this work in solidarity and accountability with Black-led organizations.

Today we want to share resources we just added to RET''s Covid-19 Racial Equity & Social Justice list. We are also gathering an emerging collection of resources, tools and analysis to address state-sanctioned violence and movement-building work.

As you know, our RET team is in the middle of an update of Racial Equity Tools.org, motivated by our urgent need to move the site to a new platform. This means our capacity to update the resources as this is happening will be challenging. For that reason, we probably won''t be sending out a newsletter again until this Fall. Over the summer, we are still committed to posting new resources on the site, especially those that discuss the current work in the movement against police violence, and that cover the Covid-19 pandemic with a racial equity lens. To see when we've added new resources in the absence of these newsletters, you can always check our Facebook page. And please don't hesitate to submit new resources. We'll prioritize content focused on current events in the short-term, but we'll hold onto other content for later updates.

Hello Racial Equity Tools Community,

This month, we are sharing a rich set of resources. In our last newsletter, we introduced a new section for COVID-19 Racial Equity and Social Justice resources. We have continued to add to this page over the past few weeks, including more resources focused on organizing, healing and community care, racial equity analysis, virtual engagement, and resource building and tools.

Additionally, we''re sharing resources in a variety of formats (video, document, toolkit, podcast) on topics from intersectionality, to solidarity economy, to movement building and education. Please note that on our site, the newest resources will appear last in the list in each section.

RET Refresh Launch!!

Greetings RET Community,

We write to you as we continue to organize in the midst of a national reckoning on racism and nearly a year into a global pandemic that is disproportionately impacting Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities. While there were some wins in November, the reality of our divided nation is even clearer, and we continue to witness state-sanctioned violence against Black people. Our call to action remains the same: working for racial justice and dismantling structural racism at every level - in systems, organizations, communities, and the culture at large.

With this call, we are excited to share our refreshed Racial Equity Tools (RET) site. We can''t wait for you to explore the updated site. We invite you to join us in reimagining all that is possible in 2021. As Arundhati Roy shared, "Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing."

Enjoy Exploring the Refresh RET site:

On RET there are 98 curated categories(!) - each with its own webpage (think 'bookcase' in the library). We added some new categories, most notably Addressing Trauma and Healing, Decolonization Theory and Practice, and Language Justice. We renamed others, including Community Planning: Land and Transportation (formerly Regionalism), Narrative Change (formerly Changing Popular Discourse), Voting Justice and Democracy Building (formerly Voting), and more. For many category pages, we also added specific subcategories to better organize the resources listed. Examples include Anti-Blackness on the Racism page and Racial Capitalism on the Theory page.
We enhanced the SEARCH function, so you can find a resource by issue, year, media type, author etc., and find a tool that will be helpful for your racial justice work or a look up a concept you wish to learn more about.
We cleaned house - we deleted dated resources and removed information where the analysis has changed or evolved. And, we added over 600(!) new resources, tools, case studies, and key sites. There are now over 2700 resources. And yet, there are still content gaps . please be patient as we continue to update. And be sure to suggest or submit resources.
We hope that you like the beautification of the site with images, videos, and quotes throughout. We are still making final touches - so visit again to see changes. Be sure to also read the category descriptions, for framing and additional resources.
We are also aware of RET's limitations. This site is meant to be dynamic and generative and will continue to evolve with the needs and times. For the next few days use the top menus to navigate (some internal links are still in transition). Please give us feedback and tell us about your experience: info@racialequitytools.org.

For Individuals and Organizations who purchased TWP curriculum prior to Thursday 12/10, follow these steps to set up your new password on this refreshed RET site and access TWP:

Go to the TWP Log In button - upper right (pink).
A login page will appear. Above the "Log In" button, click "Forgot password?"
A new screen will appear, titled "Create Password." Enter the email address attached to your TWP account.
An email from Wix will be sent to the email address that you entered. It will contain simple instructions and a link for creating your new password.
Please note your new password will need to have a minimum of 6 characters. After entering your new password twice, click, "Create Password."
Once you have successfully created your new password, you will see a confirmation message: "Your password has been changed." Click "OK." Your new password is now active. Use it to login and access the TWP curriculum at any time. Make sure you record your new password, along with the email address you use for TWP, in a safe place. If you forget your password at any time, you can follow these steps again to create a new password.

AND A REQUEST: RET is a volunteer-run site with staff from the partner organizations contributing their time curating resources as well as covering RET's annual maintenance costs. Though this has been a labor of love, it is not sustainable to keep up with the requests that have been made from the RET community, especially in the last year. ENJOY EXPLORING the REFRESH RET SITE!

On RET there are 98 curated categories(!) - each with its own webpage (think 'bookcase' in the library). We added some new categories, most notably Addressing Trauma and Healing, Decolonization Theory and Practice, and Language Justice. We renamed others, including Community Planning: Land and Transportation (formerly Regionalism), Narrative Change (formerly Changing Popular Discourse), Voting Justice and Democracy Building (formerly Voting), and more. For many category pages, we also added specific subcategories to better organize the resources listed. Examples include Anti-Blackness on the Racism page and Racial Capitalism on the Theory page.
We enhanced the SEARCH function, so you can find a resource by issue, year, media type, author etc., and find a tool that will be helpful for your racial justice work or a look up a concept you wish to learn more about.
We cleaned house - we deleted dated resources and removed information where the analysis has changed or evolved. And, we added over 600(!) new resources, tools, case studies, and key sites. There are now over 2700 resources. And yet, there are still content gaps . please be patient as we continue to update. And be sure to suggest or submit resources.
We hope that you like the beautification of the site with images, videos, and quotes throughout. We are still making final touches - so visit again to see changes. Be sure to also read the category descriptions, for framing and additional resources.
We are also aware of RET's limitations. This site is meant to be dynamic and generative and will continue to evolve with the needs and times. For the next few days use the top menus to navigate (some internal links are still in transition). Please share your feedback and tell us about your experience: info@racialequitytools.org.
