Barefoot In The Park

A joyful comedy about love, life and living together. Springtime in New York City, fresh from a blissful, six-night honeymoon, Paul and Corie, start married life in earnest. 

If only passionate Corie could be more pragmatic. If only straight-laced Paul could be more spontaneous! 

A new production of an all-time classic by Pulitzer Prize-winning, Neil Simon. The final touches are being added to a great cast to be revealed in the New Year. Watch this Space!

Your 2020 Summer Season is a great blend of new work from leading Scottish writers, timeless favourites and an extraordinary Broadway Musical. 

Scotland�s foremost, award-winning playwright, David Greig, has written a World Premi�re for Pitlochry, and award-winning, Glasgow-based playwright, Frances Poet, brings us a new Jane Austen adaptation. The talents of Tennessee Williams, Amanda Whittington, and No�l Coward combine with lyrics from Stephen Sondheim, all together in a six-strong Summer Season of Theatre, for everyone.

Tonight would have been the night! 

It''s the end of May, the start of summer. For every one of our previous 69 years the theatre would have been aglow, we would have been gathered together this evening, starting our magical journey together, through all our stories, making all our memories, for another wonderful Pitlochry Festival
Theatre Summer Season.

We''ve had so, so many message telling us how much you miss us.

We want you all to know... 

We miss you too! But remember...

...while this is a time to take a moment and reflect,
it''s also a wonderful chance to look forward!

On this day next year we will be celebrating our 70th birthday!

We''ll all be gathered together - knowing we''ve come through these dark times - for a wonderful celebration.

Now that is something to look forward to!

Please always remember, only the building is closed.
There are many, many ways we can still keep in touch - online, and on the Phone.
 We're still here for you.

There''s so much excitement around the theatre as our first Spring production - one of the original rom-com movies, Neil Simon''s Barefoot in the Park - builds to ''curtain up'' on Thursday. 

We stepped behind-the-scenes to talk to the cast in their last preparations. Click the image to watch.

Audiences will come out all hopeful. And I think we all need that at the moment."

"It''s thrilling honestly, it''s a total luxury to have this kind of time to think about a piece of work that you really love." 

Kirsty Stewart, much-acclaimed as Grace in Faith Healer at Pitlochry last autumn, also the lead in The Duchess (of Malfi) at Royal Lyceum Edinburgh and Citizens Glasgow, returns in a number of key parts: the iconic Elizabeth Taylor role, Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Marianne in Sense and Sensibility as well as the lead, Eithne, in David Greig''s Adventures with the Painted People which premi?res in July.

Pitlochry favourite, Deirdre Davis, also returns following her tour de force of four shows last year, and will be playing Mrs Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility, and Big Mama in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. And we welcome back Barbara Hockaday, whom visitors will remember as Mary Warren in The Crucible and her fantastic comic role as the mother in Summer Holiday. In 2020 Barbara will be playing Amanda in 1930s Deauville for Private Lives and Elinor in Sense and Sensibility amongst others.
