 We know that every day is feeling more and more unknown, and together we''re facing a lot of challenges.

As we mentioned in our last newsletter, we want to be transparent with you throughout this process.

Today our Government has announced that New Zealand is going into complete lockdown in 48 hours. Sadly this means that we will no longer be able to produce our paper patterns for at least the next 4 weeks.

You will notice that our paper patterns are no longer available on our website. However, all of our PDF patterns are still available and are all 15% off until the end of March.

All outstanding orders have been shipped so if you''re still waiting for yours, they will be with you as soon as they can.

If there are any changes, we will of course let you know. All updates will be emailed and posted on social media.

Dearest Friends,

While the world feels like it''s spinning faster than ever right now, I know that a lot of you are probably feeling overwhelmed, anxious and concerned about the future ahead with the daily developments of COVID-19. We wanted to let you know that we''re thinking of you in this challenging time.

We want to be as transparent with you as possible and let you know that going forward, we will do our very best to ensure that we''re making positive and responsible choices throughout this process. We need to protect our precious team and fellow sewing community while we do our part to minimise the spread of this virus, and help to flatten the curve.

Based on our New Zealand government''s recommendations, we are having to make some decisions regarding our business and our team. No doubt the next weeks and months will be challenging for everyone, especially those directly affected by the virus. We all have families and responsibilities, and we certainly don''t want to put anyone at risk. SAFETY FIRST!

While the number of infections in New Zealand are still comparatively low, we may be asked to self-isolate as a precaution and work remotely. Therefore, things may run a bit slower than usual here at Papercut. We will still be looking after your orders and answering emails and messages, but please keep in mind that shipping may take longer than usual.

Our reality could potentially mean that we  have to look after our children at home if schools and daycares need to close, so please bear with us if an email is not answered immediately. If there are any changes in terms of shipping, or any other specific order interferences, we will of course keep you up to date.

We are extremely privileged to work in a business that allows us to mostly carry on remotely however, not everyone has this option. So we need to be looking out for each other.

Let''s take this time to focus on our loved ones and looking after each other. And on a light-hearted note, you''ll be able to get a bit more sewing done when staying home ??

Sewing can be so therapeutic at times, and if we can help you out just that little bit more, we''d like to try. So, we would like to offer you 15% off all PDF patterns for the month of March.

It''s so important that we protect our mental health during this time. Let''s take advantage of it and do all the things we''ve been wanting to do.

If you''re stuck for ideas on how you can help each other, our fellow sewing community, or just your community in general, there are still ways to support them.

If you can''t make it out to your local sewing and fabric stores, you can still shop online, or even purchase gift cards. This means that these small businesses are still getting the money coming in, and we have some fun vouchers to spend at a later date. Same goes for restaurants and so many other small businesses.

What we''re wearing at home.

While the world stays home together, we thought it would be fun to share a few of our favourite Papercut styles we''re wearing to keep us comfy at home.

Whether you''re working away on your laptop, reading your favourite book or watching a movie, these pieces will help keep you at ease.

Being a team of multi-creatives, working from home isn''t new to us.

As we navigate through this time of uncertainty with a lot of us being able to work from home, we thought we''d share some of the things we''ve learnt about staying on task in our new environments.

Get Dressed.

Even if it means wearing your cosiest sweats, or your favourite active wear. It''s all about being productive, and if wearing your sweats works for you, great. If you feel better when you''ve done your hair, make up and dressed as per usual, then do it!  Just get out of the clothes you slept in!

Don''t Work From Bed.

Although it''s warm, cosy and oh so tempting, our beds are made for absolute rest and relaxation. Working in bed may end up tainting your resting place, and you might start to find it hard to relax in there.

What do you usually do from bed? Watch Netflix, online shop, scroll endlessly through instagram? You''re more likely to fall into bad habits and get distracted. 

Another reason to steer clear - it may feel cosy and calm at first, but being hunched over a laptop for hours on end, isn''t great for the posture! Your neck and back will be aching by the end of it.

Make Space.

Create a space somewhere in your house and designate it for your work. Whether it''s a spare room, the end of your dining room table or a little corner in your house somewhere.

Take note of when you''re personally most productive, and talk to your bubble buddies about it. If you''re juggling kids and sharing work slots with your other half, designate specific work times that work for you and your household, and keep the disruptions to a minimum.

Once you''ve created a space for yourself, drink some damn coffee!

Lists.

Be specific about what you need to achieve. Instead of writing "Answer Emails", write "Answer (person) about (topic)".

If you''re working in a team,  we have found Trello to be really helpful. It''s an online board system where you can make to do lists. You can colour code them, add notes and deadlines and share them between multiple people.

Loneliness in Isolation.

If you don''t have children, a pet or a partner working at home with you, this can certainly be a fairly lonely time. As humans, we have a certain amount of words to get out per day, and spending long amounts of time alone can sometimes make us a little stir crazy.

Here are a few things we''re doing to stay sane during isolation ~

MUSIC

Take advantage of not being in the office! You can listen to whatever you like, and as loud as you like. You can also sing along and dance in your chair!

PODCASTS

Maybe not the best one for all the writers out there, or any of you who are constantly answering emails. There are so many incredible podcasts out there though. They can be really educational and so entertaining!

SOCIAL MEDIA

When working from home you need to find new ways to connect. Social media is made for this! Comment on peoples posts if you love what they''re posting about. Or comment on their stories. Post about your day even if it feels silly. Upload stories. You never know who you might be helping by sharing your thoughts and feelings.

GO FOR A WALK

We can still pop out for some much needed fresh air and get that blood flowing. And don''t forget that sunshine! Some of us are moving a lot less than we usually do, so we need to keep our movement up as much as we can!

FACETIME

Call a friend or family member to catch up. Check in on your loved ones. Get those words out and enjoy some old fashioned human interaction.

In the days ahead, we''re going to have to work hard to keep our minds at ease. Our everyday lives have completely changed, but we have an opportunity now to do some of the things we''ve never had time to do before.

Bring your own sunshine into this wild and weary time and let''s take advantage of it! Whether it looks like, reading that book you haven''t got to yet, spending more quality time with your kids, doing that online yoga class in the backyard, or sewing up a storm!
