Friends, thank you for joining us on this journey.
In his Farewell Address as President, Barack Obama made this request of us: "I'm asking you to believe. Not in my ability to make change, but in yours."
This belief, this faith in the ability for each one of us to make a difference in our world, has been the guiding principle of President and Mrs. Obama’s two decades in public service: that we can solve the hardest challenges of our time if we solve them together.
This same belief is the guiding belief of the Obama Foundation.
We are a working, living center for community engagement. Our mission is to inspire people to take action, empower them to change their world for the better, and connect them so they can achieve more together than they can alone. We'll be doing this through the development of the Obama Presidential Center based on the South Side of Chicago, and through programs that reach emerging leaders throughout the world.
As Mrs. Obama put it, “This will be your Foundation as much as it is ours.” That’s why we have asked you to add your voices.
We want to hear from you.
Since President Obama left office, we’ve received thousands of ideas, photos, stories of community engagement, and suggestions for working together on building this Foundation. Now it’s your turn.
Tell us about the people who inspire you, the challenges you see in your community, and the organizations whose work you admire.
Thanks for being here,
David Simas
