We''ve enjoyed staying in touch with NYCB''s many dancers during this time of social distancing. From working out together over Zoom to attending daily Company class; learning new recipes, dance steps, and languages; or reading the works of Agatha Christie, the dancers have shared their experiences and feelings with us over the weeks in our regular From NYCB with Love feature. We bid adieu to these dispatches with a note from Corps de Ballet Member Naomi Corti, who was set to return to the stage this spring after recovering from a torn ACL.
"For me and the village it took to get me back to performing, spring was what we were calling my ''comeback season.'' We were all really looking forward to it. So not being able to have that was hard to process at first. All of the hours of work put into recovery, the nights spent watching the Ballet from the wings, and the time spent with our physical therapists and trainers. It was frustrating, but as I put it into perspective, I couldn't stay upset for long.
"This is bigger than any one of us," Naomi continues, reflecting on what she considers the lasting importance of the art of dance. "It always has been, and now more than ever I feel supported by New York City Ballet and that they value the health and safety of everyone in the City Ballet family, from the dancers, to audience members, to everyone that does the behind-the-scenes work. I look forward to the day we can all celebrate this art form again. I believe we will all be dancing in a better world when we do. My hope is that we will be able to continue to make this artwork more accessible, more inclusive, and more equitable so that the theater will become a safe space for all." |

Tune in weekly - every Wednesday at 1 PM EDT - for a ballet-based movement class from NYCB dancers, each of whom will choose the focus of their session so no two classes are alike. In the meantime, if you missed Maria''s workshop, you can find it on IGTV. |

Every week, look out for Sunday Supper With City Ballet, where a member of NYCB will present a new recipe and share how to make it from your own home. In the first Supper, Corps de Ballet Member Nieve Corrigan outlines her version of Yotam Ottolenghi''s ''Very Full Tart,'' inspired by a visit to the Mediterranean fusion restaurant Ottolenghi Islington in London. |

Released for the first time in its entirety, Songs from the Spirit is offered as a digital premiere with an all-new commentary from Farley, who discusses the piece as an ''impossible'' and ''timely'' reflection of today. Watch now.
