The CRKT Seismic is a hard-use folding knife that uses the strong Deadbolt lock.
The new Deadbolt lock from Flavio Ikoma and CRKT is a seismic shift from the same old lock designs. That''s why it''s apt the first folder to feature the Deadbolt is called the Seismic.
The CRKT Seismic is a hard-use folding knife with a long 3.97-inch flipper blade made from 1.4116 stainless steel. It has an excellent cutting belly and a strong drop point.
Using the IKBS ball bearing pivot system (another innovation Ikoma contributed to), the blade opens smoothly with the flipper tab or thumb stud.
Its ergonomic handle uses black G-10 scales that expose?the steel liner with lanyard holes near the butt.
Of course, the highlight is the Deadbolt lock. This simple design is very user-friendly and powerful. A press of the pivot unlocks the blade from a deadbolt-like design that uses the steel liners to add extra strength.
For a little more than?$100, you can try this brand new locking mechanism on a hard-working knife. You won''t regret it.

Victorinox is most famous for its Swiss Army Knives, but the brand offers a ton of compelling products, from kitchen cutlery to luggage. But the famous Swiss brand is making a case that its dedicated pocket knives are something to contend with.
The Victorinox Hunter Pro M is a large folding hunter with a mixture of classic Victorinox stylings and new upgrades.
The long 3.875-inch stainless steel blade features a cutout to facilitate one-handed opening and a drop point profile. It locks into place with a back lock.
The handle is ribbed Alox aluminum in silver in the style of Alox Swiss Army Knives. It is durable, easy to clean, and textured enough to stay in hand.
One of the biggest additions to the knife is a deep-carry pocket clip that allows for convenient carry. It also comes with a silver lanyard.
When you want to inject style and sophistication into your EDC, reach for the Victorinox Hunter Pro M.

The Tech Tool City 1 perfectly melds the old with the new in a compelling EDC.
When Boker released its Tech Tool line, many billed the knives as the ultimate Swiss Army knife killer. While that may be the case, the Boker Plus Tech Tool City 1 is more of a sodbuster killer.
The Tech Tool City 1 is a compelling EDC with modern flourishes packed in a traditional design. The knife features a 2.8-inch slipjoint blade made from 12C27 Sandvik steel that opens via nail nick.
Unlike most traditional knives, the handle is made from contoured G-10 scales on top of solid steel liners. What else separates this EDC from the classic sodbuster design is the inclusion of a reversible deep-carry pocket clip.
With nice inclusions like a glass breaker and the ability to easily disassemble the knife for maintenance, the Tech Tool City 1 perfectly melds the old with the new.

Every two weeks we highlight knives from a specific knifemaker.
Jesper Voxnaes is one of the top knifemakers around. Although the best knifemakers are often those who specialize, Voxnaes has managed to excel at making both smaller EDC knives and more robust outdoor-centric models.
We featured Voxnaes a year ago, but he''s already added a few new models to his repertoire.
These are some of our favorites.
The Pilar is the pinnacle of the EDC - a small, compact knife that feels like it''s part of the hand.
This new knife from CRKT and Voxnaes is slim, lightweight, and suited for city carry.
The gnome is a tiny EDC fixed blade that''s easy to carry and looks great with an olive wood handle.
Voxnaes set out to design an outdoor folder that''s crafted to perform. It also features Field Strip technology.
The Bob from Boker Plus Elegance is a far more robust knife than the previous ones. It''s built like a tank and excels in the outdoors.

Every two weeks we highlight knives from a specific knifemaker.
Ken Onion is a living legend in the knife community. He made a splash with iconic designs for Kershaw a while back but hasn''t rested on his laurels. He''s still out there innovating today for CRKT.
There are so many great Ken Onion designs currently in production, but we narrowed down a few of our favorites.
Check out six?great Onion designs.
Ken Onion designed the Outrage to be a sophisticated EDC. But he created a knife that will destroy whatever stands in its way.
Kershaw put a new twist on the old Ken Onion classic with a new copper iteration of the iconic folder.
The Slacker is Onion''s personal thought experiment realized: can an attractive, low-profile knife be built around Field Strip? The answer is resounding.
Onion offered a twist on the classic WWII inspired dagger design by turning it into a modern EDC.
The Blur is one of his most enduring designs. It gets even better with an upgraded S30V steel treatment to stand out in the modern era.
The CRKT Helical is an interesting design from Onion, thanks to its tanto-like blade shape in D2 steel and twisted handle.

Les?George has been making knives since the early 90s.
He''s used his diverse background and real-world experience to create compelling knife designs, which tend to be more tactical with a focus on functionality and portability.
Check out a few of our favorite?Les?George designs below.
Les George offers a sharp knife that takes subtle inspiration from the look of an exotic sportscar.
Les George took inspiration from a classic US World War II trench knife to create the folding XCOM.
Boilermakers are known for their skill at metalwork. So Les George took inspiration from his craftsmanship to build the new Boilermaker.
The Spline is a knife with plenty of curves. The first curve you''ll notice is the heavy curve of the blade spine.
With a Les George design, functionality is always Job 1. You''ll see it on full display in the Seguin.

The Caligo is a sleek, budget-friendly EDC flipper from the mind of TJ Schwarz.
If you''re looking for a low-cost?EDC folder that''s sleek, fast, and reliable, it''s hard to find a better buy the CRKT Caligo.
This low-profile flipper designed by TJ Schwarz features a 3.19-inch blade made from?8Cr13MoV stainless steel with black oxide coating. It opens quickly and stays open, thanks to the IKBS ball-bearing pivot system and liner lock.
When you look at the design from afar, you can tell knifemaker TJ Schwarz''s first love was classic cars.
Its streamlined and curvy profile continues with the black-anodized 6061-T6?aluminum handle. The deep-carry pocket clip disappears into the design and helps the knife disappear into your pocket.
One of the best parts about the knife is the blue pivot ring that pops from the all-black knife.
It''s no surprise that the knife won Blade Show''s "Best Buy of the Year" award in 2018.

Every two weeks we highlight knives from a specific knifemaker.
The first thing that anyone says about knifemaker Robert Carter is that he comes from a long line of renowned knifemakers (son of Joe Pardue and grandson of Mel Pardue), but he''s proven himself through hard work and fantastic designs.
Most of his designs are tough flippers meant for real work.
We picked five of our favorite Carter designs down below.
Based on his Generalist custom design, the Carter Prime is an overbuilt flipper with a thick cut 3.37-inch blade made from tough D2 tool steel.

The sharpest knife newsletter sent straight to your inbox every other week.
One of the most unexpected hits of the knife world has been the California Legal Auto. These are automatic knives with blades shorter than 2-inches that conform to California laws on switchblades.
Probably the best of this category is the Kershaw Launch 4. So Kershaw decided to expand its California Legal Autos to include the latest Badass Knife of the Week.?
Featuring a 1.9-inch blade made from CPM 154 stainless steel, the Kershaw Launch 10 is a small yet ferocious everyday carry automatic.
The blade has a stonewashed finish and comes in a surprisingly versatile hawkbill blade.
Like the others in the Launch series, the Launch 10 has a gray anodized 6061-T6 aluminum handle with a low-profile push button that springs the blade to life.
A reversible tip-down pocket clip rides low in the pocket for discreet carry.?
The knife is made in America.

Every two weeks we highlight knives from a specific knifemaker.
There is no one more influential to the knife community than the great Sal Glesser, co-founder and owner of Spyderco Knives. His designs have revolutionized the industry with huge innovations like the pocket clip and easy one-hand operation.
Most amazingly, he continues to innovate and push designs forward to this day.
Narrowing down our favorite Sal designs was tough, but take a look at six of our current favorites below.
If you want a hard-working design that''s strong, ergonomic, and versatile, it''s hard to top the Shaman.
The Ladybug is one of Sal''s favorite designs and one that he has carried quite frequently. It recently received a run with K390 steel.
The Military was first introduced back in 1996, but it remains a flagship model.
Sal created the Delica and Endura lines that have undergone massive improvements over the years. More recently, they put a Wharncliffe blade on the knife with much success.
The Roadie was designed with new requirements that would have allowed knives back on planes. Although knives are still banned on planes, the design has gained a cult following.
Sal made the original Civilian as a self-defense tool for law-enforcement. The Matriarch 2 is a more EDC-friendly version that includes the Emerson Wave.

The small but prolific Pilar got a larger and blacker treatment. This version has a flipper, 2.7-inch D2 blade, and G-10 handle.

The Para 3 LW is probably the best EDC folder available these days. This all-black version of the knife is just as great.

A balisong for beginner and expert flippers alike.
Get ready to flip out over the latest Badass Knife of the Week.
With the release of the high-quality yet still budget-friendly Kershaw Lucha, anyone can become a flipping master with this well-designed balisong.
The Lucha features a 4.6-inch blade made from stonewash finished Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel. A clip-point style blade profile and razor-sharp edge prove this knife is ready for real work as well as play.
The most important thing about this butterfly knife is that every aspect of the design was carefully considered to maximize flipping.
The tapered blade provides even more balance to the knife''s weight, while?its bead-blasted steel handle has rounded bevels to let the knife roll smoothly on the hand.
Along with dual KVT ball-bearing pivots and a rounded latch that won''t get in the way, this is a perfect balisong for beginners and experts alike.
The Lucha has an overall length of 10.25 inches and a weight of 5.9 ounces. It is?made in the United States of America.

A collection of recent arrivals now available at Knife Depot.
Rick Hinderer has been making knives for years but not before spending time as a firefighter, EMT, and rescue diver. He''s used this real-world experience to create functional and popular knife designs.
He''s had factory designs from several different brands, so we decided to pick a few of our favorites, including a mix of classics and newer models.
The Cinder is not your typical Hinderer design since it''s small and meant for light EDC. But this copper version of the Cinder is surprisingly popular.
Hinderer used his experience as a first responder to make the Gerber Hinderer CLS (Combat Life Saver), featuring?a seatbelt cutter, window punch, and oxygen tank wrench.
This strong liner design from Hinderer is barracuda sleek and engineered to provide great tip control.
Hinderer made the Hell Fire in conjunction with the late Steve Brenner of TDI. It is a ferocious last chance fixed blade.
The Cryo is probably Hinderer''s most popular and beloved design from Kershaw, but we''re partial to the G-10 version.

The Scout version of the huge 4-Max is smaller in price but not in design.
The original Cold Steel 4-Max was a behemoth of epic proportions. It boasted a giant slab?of 20CV steel for the blade, giant slabs of titanium for the handle, and a giant price tag of $400.
Despite the price, the knife was well-received by collectors and knife enthusiasts. Cold Steel did the smart thing and broke down the price barrier by making an affordable version of the 4-Max without sacrificing strength.
That knife is the latest Badass Knife of the Week.
The Cold Steel 4-Max Scout features the same 4-inch blade but with AUS-10A stonewashed blade. The steel is not as premium as 20CV, but it''s tough and gets the job done.
The handle has stainless steel liners with a Griv-Ex grip and backspacer. This fixes one of the biggest complaints about the original (a slippery handle) to give you a reliable grip even when wet.
With Andrew Demko''s powerful Tri-Ad locking mechanism, your fingers will be forever grateful. And if that''s not enough, there is a hole in the handle that accommodates a metal cylinder to turn the folder into a virtual fixed blade.
Weighing a hefty 10 ounces, this is a hard-use knife enthusiast''s dream at a low cost.

A reliable budget folder with a cohesive design made in the United States of America.
A few years back, Gerber developed a bad reputation as a brand that lost its luster. They''ve worked hard putting out better high-end knives, but they''ve also made some progress in budget folders.
Enter the Sharkbelly.
Gerber bills the knife as an update to the classic EDC with a 3.25-inch modified drop point blade made from 420HC stainless steel.
It opens easily with one hand via the cutout in the blade and locks into place with an always dependable back lock mechanism.
The handle features a glass-filled nylon handle with a SharkSkin Grip, which offers unidirectional scales to bolster the grip.
Unlike many budget folders available, this knife is made in the United States. That makes this formidable low-cost EDC folder a no-brainer.

The Byrd Crow 2 is a great EDC folder with a vastly improved design.
Byrd knives are sometimes erroneously considered inferior versions of Spyderco classics. But the next generation of the Byrd Crow proves that inexpensive knives don''t have to be cheap.
The Byrd Crow 2 is an updated version of the original with improvements in all the right places. This small EDC folder has a 2.78-inch blade that opens with the comet-shaped finger hole.
One significant improvement?comes in the CTS BD1 steel blade. This upper mid-range steel features excellent corrosion resistance as well as superior edge-holding capabilities.
Its handle now includes full skeletonized steel liners beneath textured G-10 scales. The clip is more in line with the durable spoon-shaped clips on Spyderco.
When you want a hard-working EDC that won''t break the bank and gives you a great value, it''s hard not to reach for the Crow.

One of the hardest things to do is wed the classic with the modern without making it feel forced.
Leave it to the great Ken Onion to pull it off in the exquisite CRKT Bombastic.
The Bombastic features ethos of the World War II-era knives but adds modern twists like a flipper, IKBS technology, and advanced materials.
Boasting a 3.31-inch spear point blade with a false edge, the knife uses a flipper tab as a handguard found in daggers of yore.?
A steel handle allows the blade to stay securely open with a frame lock mechanism. Glass-reinforced fiber polyamide overlays keep?the knife in hand in all types of conditions.
The Bombastic is a great way to pay homage to past military excursions in an up-to-date EDC design.

The Ultra XR is a slim, lightweight EDC made from high-quality materials.
The new SOG Ultra XR can be perfectly summed up in two words:?slim and sleek.
The knife is only 6.5mm thick and 34 grams, making it one of the slimmest and lightest EDC knives around. But if you think that means it sacrifices quality or construction, you''re wrong.
The blade is made from cryogenically heat-treated?S35VN with Titanium Nitride coating. It opens reliably with one hand, thanks to an elongated cutout for the thumb.
SOG uses its new XR Lock, which is easy to manipulate and highly dependable. This version has a carbon fiber handle that makes it even more lightweight.
A titanium pocket clip also doubles as a money clip. That means you can do away with your wallet and have your ultimate EDC package centered around your knife.

The Kershaw Static features a cleaver-shaped blade in a small but robust EDC design.
If you were to narrow down the top knife trends of the last few years, the folding cleaver would be near the top.
Our latest Badass Knife of the Week is Kershaw''s attempt at making an EDC cleaver that''s budget-friendly and user-friendly. The result is the Kershaw Static.
The cleaver-shaped blade is robust but relatively small at 2.9-inches, making it legal to carry in many localities. The satin-finished?8Cr13MoV stainless steel blade is far from premium, but it gets the job done with no fuss.
Unlike many budget Kershaw knives, the Static uses a manual opening mechanism with a flipper and KVT ball-bearing system.
The stainless steel handle uses gray PVD coating and machined texturing for a reliable grip. The blade locks in place with a frame lock.
This small but strong EDC comes with a deep carry pocket clip.

Brian Tighe (pronounced "tie") has been honing his knifemaking skills for 30 years, and it shows. He''s made his unique stamp in the overcrowded field of tactical knives by making designs with style.
But just because they look a little more attractive and artsy doesn''t mean they aren''t formidable.
Take a look at a few of our favorites from the award-winning designer.

His designs have inspired countless others, and his famous Emerson Wave has been used widely.
In recent years, he finally agreed to work with Kershaw to bring his designs to the masses. Check out a few of our favorite Emerson designs currently available.
The Emerson CQC-7 revolutionized the tactical knife industry and remains highly coveted. Now you have a chance to get a budget version in the CQC-7K.
The CQC-10K is based on the Emerson Appalachian and can be used for hunting, survival, camping, bushcrafting or EDC.
This model is based on the Emerson Rendezvous and has recently been updated to feature a D2 steel blade.

Andrew Demko is one of the best designers of hard-use knives maybe ever. He has taken Cold Steel from a brand for mall ninjas to a brand for serious tradesmen.
Demko?designs run the gamut of strength - from big and heavy-duty to small and stout. When you pick up a?Demko knife, you always know your fingers will be safe.
Check out five of our favorite?Demko?designs.
The AD-15 with Scorpion Lock is one of Demko''s best designs of the past few years. It had green accents when it first came out, but this all-black version is downright sexy.
Demko wanted to make a kukri you could fold and stick in your pocket. He succeeded with the huge Rajah II.
The Mini Tac Bowie offers the well-known versatility of a sharp sturdy clip point making it ideal for use in the field or for EDC.
The American Lawman is a tough and stout folder with a comfortable handle and an S35VN blade.
The second Demko design to make a splash recently is the amazing AD-10, which can now be called one of the best hard-use knives ever made.
