Starting Thursday, August 13th, through October 15, the ICPA weekly webinar series will feature a number of different presentations. All webinars will take place on Thursdays from 1:30-3:00 PM CDT (UTC -5). All webinars are free to active ISPA members. When you login to the ispag.org website, the link to the webinars will be under the Members tab (https://www.ispag.org/Virtual_ICPA_Webinar). If you have any issues with registering to view a webinar, please contact, info@ispag.org
If you are not able to view the webinars live, they will be recorded and available to ISPA members online.
Upcoming schedule
August 27, 2020 - Advances in Crop Sensing
Precision agriculture depends on information and that is provided largely by remote and proximal sensors. This webinar will include presentations on remote sensing for crop monitoring, yield prediction and irrigation management, as well as proximal soil sensors for better soil management.
September 3, 2020 - Intensifying Farm Management
This webinar focuses on presentations of technologies to improve farm management including: estimation of apple load using a mobile app, impact of precision irrigation on maize yield, and use of pulse width modulation technology on pesticide sprayers.
September 10, 2020 - Big Data
Converting data to decisions is one of the major precision agriculture challenges. This webinar includes presentations on: using cell phone images to estimate soil organic carbon, neural networks to classify weed images, video based deep learning for estimating maize ear height, and automated data correction for plant breeding locations.
September 17, 2020 - Economics Community
Precision agriculture will only achieve widespread adoption if farmers and agribusiness can use it profitably. This webinar includes presentations on the regulation of agricultural robotics, adoption of smart phone apps in German agriculture, and the impact of seed technology on farm equipment manufacturers.
September 24, 2020 - Latin America Community
This webinar will include three presentations about trends in precision agriculture in Latin America, followed by information about the second Latin American Precision Agriculture Conference (CLAP), postponed until next year.
October 8, 2020 - Nitrogen Community
Nitrogen fertilizer is one of the most important crop nutrients. Because it is affected by temperature, moisture and other factors it is also one of the most difficult to manage. This webinar will focus on research by the ISPA Nitrogen Management Community to improve spatial and temporal management of nitrogen.
October 15, 2020 - On-Farm Experimentation Community
Optimizing farming systems will probably require some planned experimentation. It is unlikely that simply observing function systems will provide data for crop and livestock responses over all the relevant inputs and range of rates. This webinar will focus on research by the ISPA On-farm Experimentation Community to make on-farm testing more relevant to farmers and agribusiness.
