Two of our journals, BMC Microbiology and BMC Bioinformatics, are involved in pilots aimed to facilitate transparent reporting of scientific results and the peer review of code, code citation and sharing of code.

Springer Nature has extended its content sharing pilot with ResearchGate, allowing more authors to benefit from the partnership, as four times more Springer Nature content is being rolled out across the ResearchGate platform.

BMC Microbiology in cross-publisher minimal standards pilot

We are piloting the MDAR (Materials Design Analysis Reporting) checklist developed in partnership with other journals and experts in transparent reporting. The working group will gather feedback from researchers, journals, funders and experts in transparent reporting, and a framework, checklist and elaboration document will be released in September 2019.

BMC Bioinformatics: Code Ocean

We have recently launched a trial in partnership with Code Ocean, a computational reproducibility platform, to facilitate the peer review of code,
code citation and sharing of code.

Environmental justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of ethnicity, colour, national origin, social status or income, with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. We are now calling for papers from a broad range of subject areas that shed light on the contribution that evidence-based research can give to develop better practices and policies towards stronger environmental justice. Published in partnership with the Institute of Cannabis Research, Journal of Cannabis Research is an innovative open access journal covering all aspects of research related to cannabis and its constituents. The journal has now published its first articles and you can read the associated editorial here.
