Reece Wilson takes Gold as fort william 2021 dates announced

In 2020 the world changed and so much of what we used to do hit the buffers.

For the first time in 19 years, the global mountain bike community couldn't assemble in the Scottish Highlands as public health and safety became the absolute priority.

But racing has finally taken place - and what a race! Reece Wilson (from the Scottish Borders) is Downhill World Champion after an amazingly dominant run in incredibly testing conditions at Leogang (Austria). Other notable top 10 Brit results were Bernard Kerr (5th), Greg Williamson (7th) and in the women's race, Fort William's Mikayla Parton's 5th. And future prospects are good with Oisin O''Callaghan (IRE) taking Junior gold and Brits filling the remaining top 5 places.

Fort William 22-23 may 2021

Looking ahead to 2021 in a positive move, the UCI and organisers have agreed an 8 event World Cup calendar which heralds a return to Fort William on 22-23 May. That excitement will be even higher with a home World Champion to cheer on - can Reece take a Fort William win as the reigning World Champion?

The Fort William organisers will work with the UCI, Scottish Government and local agencies to put in place appropriate measures which will be in line with the guidance in place at the time.
