Meet Visiting Artists Israel Solomon and David Slonim

We are excited to have not one, but TWO Indiana artists to conduct a year-long series of workshops and demonstrations as our Visiting Artists through May 2021! Mark your calendars and be inspired by these extraordinary artists!

Israel Solomon is an art teacher who paints stunning scenes from the Indianapolis community using vibrant colors and eye-catching shapes. He will host Color Our City workshops on Sept. 12 at 2 and 3 p.m. Using images of our city and neighborhoods, families will create their own works of art alongside Israel to portray the diversity and beauty of our community.
David Slonim is a professional children’s book author and illustrator, painter, and art instructor. In his Story Maker workshop on Aug. 28–29 and Sept. 4–5 at 2 and 3 p.m., families will learn professional drawing tips, basic storytelling structure, and the importance of perseverance as they create a character drawing and story idea of their own in this hands-on workshop

Space is limited to 10 people per workshop. Seats can be reserved at the Concierge Desk the day of the workshop.

Reimagined Mini Masterpieces exhibit opens Oct. 17!

One of the longest-standing permanent exhibits at The Children’s Museum will soon have a new home on Level 4. Using the incredibly detailed worlds of miniatures, this reimagined exhibit will bring these fascinating mini creations to life and provide space for your family to create your own stories.

Families will gain pro secrets and create a character drawing and story idea of your own in this hands-on workshop with children''s book author/illustrator David Slonim. Planning your visit
Because we’re in this together, here’s what we need you to remember:

Advance tickets are required. Every visitor needs to purchase tickets online in advance. Capacity will be limited
Wear a face mask. All visitors age 2 and over will be required to wear a mask, unless there is an underlying health issue. We ask that you provide your own masks for your family.
All visitors are required to follow social distancing guidelines.
Please stay home if you do not feel well. We will gladly exchange your ticket for another date!

April 8, 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of Ryan’s passing. We will remember Ryan’s life and pay tribute to his legacy in a series of blog posts that day.
