The public comment period for Cradle to Cradle Certified Version 4 is still open until Friday, 18 October -- and we want your feedback. 

Manufacturers of Cradle to Cradle Certified™ building industry products have the opportunity to register those products in the mindful MATERIALS Library, a database for consolidated health and transparency product data.  Create a free mindful MATERIALS account to submit qualified Cradle to Cradle certified products for approval and inclusion in the mindful MATERIALS Library. Help us maximize the positive impact of Cradle to Cradle Certified™ around the world. We’re looking for an exceptional individual to join our team to accelerate adoption of the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Products Program in the Built Environment sector in the EMEA region. The Built Environment Manager will work closely with product manufacturers, suppliers, accredited assessors and other industry influencers and stakeholders to increase awareness of the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Product Standard, adoption of the certification, and demand for certified products. Dear Built Environment Community,

With 2019 coming to an end, we are looking back on a year full of engagement, learning and achievement. During the past year, our built environment community has grown to include 193 certification holders and 391 active certifications for building materials and interior design products across the globe, including 56 new certifications this year. To support alignment and synergies within the wider building industry, we have also deepened our partnerships with various building standards and organizations that share in our commitment to accelerating the growth of a safe and circular world. 

This year, we also took a significant step towards ensuring our forefront institutional role with the introduction of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Version 4 draft standard for public comment. We are proud of the leadership several of you are demonstrating by stepping forward to take part in the Cradle to Cradle Version 4 Pilot Program as we prepare to formally launch the new standard during the first half of 2020. 

2019 has also illustrated to us the importance of sharpening the business case for Cradle to Cradle Certified materials and products in the context of the sustainable cities agenda. We also look forward to demonstrating how the work of the Institute, along with your engagement, is delivering tangible solutions for the most urgent topics of our time, including health and well-being, climate action, circularity, and business model innovation. And, we will resume our focus on educating and engaging senior decision-makers and key actors in these issues across the built environment ecosystem, from architecture and design to real estate and finance. 

We look forward to working with you as we drive to make an even greater positive impact on our shared future. Your engagement and support lies at the heart of our success, and on behalf of the Institute, I would like to extend a big thank you for your continuous support. Dear Built Environment Community,

Many people are calling 2020 the start of a decade of action. We are excited about our own decade of action as we look to power a global transformation to a safe and circular economy in tangible ways.

However, true industry transformation is only possible with collaborative action. The built environment sector in particular is a key partner for us on this journey, with the power to demonstrate Cradle to Cradle principles across a variety of industries — from building materials to furnishings and home supplies. To better facilitate the development of collective solutions and accelerate the implementation of Cradle to Cradle in the built environment, we are establishing sector specific user groups for our certification holders. Together we will be able to take faster and bolder leadership on circularity and innovation best practices. 

The power of collaboration is true for our work beyond our certification community, too. Throughout 2020 and beyond, we will continue to strategically align and partner with building programmes and relevant initiatives like WELL and others.

Our built environment sponsors are also critical partners to us in this effort. Their support for our work in 2020 will contribute significantly to generating awareness and greater visibility for all our activities, and I would like to explicitly thank them for their support.

"TURNING THE MOMENT INTO MOMENTUM" HAS BEEN A DEFINING AND UPLIFTING THEME AT THE INSTITUTE DURING THE PAST MONTHS. We are proud that even amidst the challenging circumstances the world continues to face, our team is more committed as ever to accelerating and shaping a positive future rooted in sustainability, circularity, well-being and equity.

But achieving this vision is a community effort:  the systems transformation critical to making this new reality happen requires both long-term vision and the courage to take action. Many of our built environment partners and certification holders have been driving vision into action for years through the implementation of the Cradle to Cradle Certified framework and standard, putting into practice today the tenets of a safe, circular and responsible world tomorrow. In this update, we highlight some of this leadership and the innovations happening across our European community, where green and responsible practices are at the heart of Europe's recovery plans to "repair and prepare" for the next generation. 

Beginning on 8 October, we will build on the theme of momentum in action with Circular Shift 2020, the Institute's annual event. This year, we will stream one live Circular Shift session from Amsterdam every Thursday at 3 PM CET throughout the month of October. The event will feature top industry leaders and changemakers from across sectors joining together in cutting-edge discussions about ways to power innovation for a circular economy -- and make the shift to a positive future a fast reality.

The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute is on an exciting path with the upcoming release of the new version of the Cradle to Cradle CertifiedT Product Standard, which is considered to be the world's most advanced, science-based measure for transforming the safety, health, circularity and sustainability of materials and products across major sectors and industries.

The underlying Cradle to Cradle Certified Products Program is rapidly becoming the leading recognized framework for assessing, optimizing and verifying all aspects of product design and manufacturing across five comprehensive categories: Material Health, Product Circularity, Renewable Energy & Climate, Water & Soil Stewardship and Social Fairness.

In support of the Institute's growing community and scaling of impact, we are seeking to expand our assessor network and are inviting organizations worldwide to submit qualifications to become a Cradle to Cradle Certified Assessment Body and/or a Cradle to Cradle Certified Material Health Assessment Body. On behalf of the Institute, these assessors provide guidance to companies working to achieve product certification and assess products to determine fulfillment of Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard requirements.

We currently welcome submissions for qualification from organizations that meet the eligibility criteria and share our guiding principles of technical quality, scientific rigor, innovation and positive market transformation through Cradle to Cradle Certified. We invite you to review the Request for Qualifications, which outlines the services required, the selection criteria, as well as instructions for online submission by 31st of July 2020.
