Beware of tram schedule changes during the holiday
Check routes even for your normal commute on regular basis
Don't forget that trams (and buses, and trolleys and trains) run differently during July and August because of the summer holidays. And then, there all the summer constructions. The app Czech Public Transport IDOS should be updated even with all the daily changes (Google Maps are not). Available for free for Android and iOs. Check routes even for your normal commute to avoid unpleasant surprises.

The Brno Cricket Club will host a four-team tournament
4 and 5 July, Reckovice, or broadcast on ECN - European Cricket Network
Come support the local teams - the tournament will be broadcast across Europe! The action starts at 10 am on Saturday. Food will be brought to the field from The Himalaya and the East Village Bar & Diner. A BBQ will be available on site. Cold beer will be sold for 25,-

Czech summer courses for children - for free, for third-country nationals

The Centre for Foreigners JMK opens summer Czech courses for all children who are preparing to attend Czech school from September. Courses level will probably be A0-A1. You can register easily on their website - only few spaces are left.

Brno’s film summer is starting. Enjoy a nice meal in the city and head for one of Brno’s open-air summer cinemas: this is their list and programmes.

Uprostred Festival

For the following months, the festival will enliven the streets, squares and forgotten corners of the centre once again. A programme full of wide selection of music productions, workshops, theatre performances, ballrooms, sport and multimedia events and many others awaits you!

Brno and its Churches 2020
until 15 September, various sites
Tuesday to Saturday, selected churches in the centre of Brno will be opening their doors. Normally closed to the public, these churches can be visited independently, or accompanied by a guide you will meet inside.

Ignis Brunensis - a bit different this year

There will be no in-competition firework shows at the reservoir in 2020. Instead, you have lots of other events to visit in the centre - a firework display over Spielberg is only one of them.

Brno Short Story writing contest is accepting entries
2 weeks left to write down your idea and submit your short story
The topic is simply "Brno", and the deadline is 17 May. The best short story will win 6,000 CZK. Second place gets 3,000 CZK and third place gets 1,000 CZK. It is understood that most of the entrants will not be native English speakers and that, in fact, this may be their first attempt to write creatively in English. All entrants should endeavour to adhere to the rules of English; however, spelling and grammar will not be critical for success.
