bimstore Connect: Targeted marketing for manufacturers

Over the last 10 years, bimstore has built a community of hundreds of thousands of specifiers and manufacturers from all over the world from architecture, engineering, interior design as well as many more.

Feedback from manufacturers is that they want to connect with the right specifiers in the right location to suit their product.

As the bimstore community has grown there is an opportunity for our manufacturers to segment their market and target audiences interested in their product.

In response to this, bimstore has developed Connect, where audiences are defined by profession, product and location. A manufacturer can place their product in front of the right specifiers or connect directly with content or product news to maximise return on investment.

Premium interior window treatment company Silent Gliss have now joined bimstore.

Kent-based Silent Gliss are the pioneers of the silent curtain track and were also the first to electrically operate curtains via push-button control. They specialise in bespoke, made-to-measure shading systems, whether manually or electrically operated, windows, skylights or room dividers. Their breadth of product range offers inspiration for any project no matter how big or small.

Autodesk and CIOB map the digital construction journey

To ensure that companies can identify their position on the digital journey, a very helpful new infographic has been created by Autodesk and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). David Philp, who is the trustee and policy board chair at the CIOB explained that the reasoning behind the development is because "digital construction is set to transform the sector" and that "construction is developing a new conversation with applied technologies".

BIM guidance for housing associations launched in the UK

A joint project has been launched that aims to assist housing associations to implement digital asset management. The move is fronted by UK BIM Alliance and members of the National Housing Federation (NHF). Housing associations are well equipped to benefit from the integration of BIM processes into their development and asset management strategies. Not many associations have sufficient information about their own projects and even less so in the digital format. Expect to see the guidance published towards the latter part of 2020.

bimstore accessible in Bentley''s ProjectWise Components Center

For the past year, bimstore has been working in partnership with Bentley Systems to allow specifiers to access bimstore content on ProjectWise Components Center.

Now, designers and specifiers can access hundreds of thousands of bimstore components using Bentley''s Cloud Service.

ProjectWise Components Center is a digital component library and catalogue management service. The service provides access to organisation and project approved content to be used in specific design applications and industries across multi-discipline project teams. The service assures the accuracy of components and their data across the asset lifecycle.

With a common, centralised source of digital components, extended project teams can more easily ensure consistency across project teams and speed up the design process.

You can add project or organisation specific components to ProjectWise Components Center to build knowledge and provide a centrally managed, accessible source of consistent digital components. This source can be shared and re-used within and across project and organisational boundaries.

Referring to the recent integration, Adam Ward, bimstore Product Director, said: "It has been great working with the Bentley team and we are delighted that our components can be shared with even more designers."

NIFTYLIFT: ALL-ELECTRIC MEWPs

Widespread acceptance of the causes of climate change has led governments and individuals around the world to change the way they behave in relation to carbon and particulate emissions.

Changing consumer sentiment and the stricter regulations brought on by government legislation are driving users of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) to choose cleaner, more efficient products.

This has led to a shift from the use of MEWPs with internal combustion (IC) engines as their sole power-source towards plug-in hybrids and more recently all-electric MEWPs.

The trend is accelerating within the MEWP sector and plug-in hybrids are no longer seen as a short-term solution, but rather a short-term ''stepping stone'' with all-electric MEWPs fast-becoming the preferred choice for rental companies and end-users alike.

WATES SELECT BIMSTORE AS STRATEGIC PARTNER

The Wates Group, established in 1897, is one of the leading privately-owned construction, development and property services businesses in the UK employing approximately 4,000 people.

As part of their education design process, Wates required a BIM object library for their BIM teams and external designers to use.

bimstore proposed Node, their cloud-based private information portal where users can host documents, BIM components, videos and models in a controlled environment for distribution across project teams.

1 IN 10 SUBCONTRACTORS STILL USE PAPER FOR TENDERS

According to a recent survey carried out by Autodesk, one in ten subcontractors are still using paper for their tenders.

Nearly 400 clients were surveyed for the report ''Connected Procurement: The Foundation of Construction Success'', the findings are in some capacity expected as the sector is one of the slowest at implementing new technologies.

Thirteen percent of those surveyed said most of their tenders were paper-based.
