Starting at sunrise from beneath Htilominlo Temple, built in 1211, runners will navigate a course amid farmlands and a pagoda-studded landscape. Here, you will encounter friendly locals and small, traditional villages that exude an aura of yesteryear.

Entry is part of a 6- or 8-day tour package that includes social events, sightseeing excursions, hotel accommodation and an English-speaking tour guide. Both packages have the chance to explore Yangon, and then the 6-day package will head for Bagan while the 8-day package gets the opportunity to see the glorious former capital of Mandalay.

While Bagan will captivate you with its history and beautiful temples, there is much more to explore in Myanmar. With beaches to rival Thailand, rolling hill regions, and a unique mix of ethnic cultures, Myanmar has something for everyone to explore.

After you savor sweet victory at the Bagan Temple Marathon, you can join us on one of our optional extensions. All three of the extensions are 4 days long and run from 30 November to 3 December.

Ngapali: Glorious Beach Escape - USD 548
Ngapali is one among many of Myanmar's stunning beaches. With kilometers of pure white sand and sparkling turquoise water, you can relax under a swaying palm tree on the beach, or perhaps poolside with a cocktail in hand. Swim, snorkel, or bike around the surrounding rustic fishing villages to get a taste of the relaxed seaside vibe (and a taste of the delicious local seafood!).

Magical Inle Lake - USD 598
Inle Lake is one of the most iconic sites in Myanmar. Up in the Shan Hills, beautiful floating gardens and houses on bamboo stilts are scattered across its vast waters. On shore, crumbling stupas at the foot of the mountains enhance the dreamlike scenery and it is almost as if you are on a different planet. Join us in exploring this scenic lake via boats, bikes, and visits with the locals.

Mount Victoria & Chin Villages - USD 748
High in the mountains of the Chin State, small villages are scattered throughout the forest. These villages are home to the famous face-tattooed women of the various Chin State tribes. This extension will take us through several villages, as well as into Nat Ma Taung National Park, where Mount Victoria stands majestically. The Event
The Great Wall Marathon is an epic adventure in every sense - run up the steps of one of mankind's greatest monuments and seize the chance to explore the fascinating country of China. You'll get to meet kindred spirits in your fellow participants, taste authentic cuisine, and run the race of a lifetime.

In Beijing, join optional excursions to enjoy a Chinese acrobatic show, tour Tienanmen Square and the Forbidden City, or walk around the summer palace. Depending on your tour package, you can also visit either the Ming or the Qing Tombs - vast, impressive monuments dedicated to the respective dynasties. Find all your options here.

Travel Further
China is immense, and Beijing is just a sliver of what this country has to offer. Seize the chance to dive deeper into the different regions of China and join us on one of our optional extensions:

Made In China: 18-24 May
This extension truly shows a different side of China. After a stop in Xi'an and a tour of the Terracotta Army, we'll fly to Guilin, famous for its mountains and beautiful rivers. Driving from there to Longsheng, we'll get to enjoy views of the beautifully sculpted rice terraces and spend some time exploring them. Next we'll head to Yangshou, where we can bike around, float on the river, or just enjoy the views of the fantastic karst mountains.

Avatar Mountains: 18-23 May
This extension centers on Zhangjiaje National Park, a truly unique landscape that inspired the floating mountains in the movie "Avatar." In addition to exploring this otherworldly landscape, we'll visit the charming Dehang Miao minority village hidden away in a lush valley, and take in the classic architecture in Fenghuang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is often described as one of the most charming villages in China.

The Terracotta Army: 18-20 May
The Terracotta Army is perhaps one of the most iconic sights in China. Located in Xi'an, the city offers history, culture, and excellent cuisine. On this short extension, you'll bike the ancient city wall, take in a Tang Dynasty dancing show, and, of course, spend some time with the famous Terracotta Army.

Be among the first to run in this unparalleled setting. Everyone will start off together at the foot of the majestic Hverfjall volcano crater. Marathon and half-marathon runners will then head south to the unique lava field of Dimmuborgir, which means "Black Fortress." The route follows exciting, narrow trails in a counterclockwise circle and then runs under the Gatklettur Arch.

Meanwhile, quarter marathon runners will head straight up the mighty Hverfjall crater. Marathon and half marathon runners will conquer the crater after they exit Dimmuborgir. The rest of the route consists of lunar landscapes and black volcano sand and lava rock.

The surreal atmosphere created by knowing that this volcanic zone is still very much active will make the Iceland Volcano Marathon an unforgettable experience!

Polar Circle Marathon will take place in April and October 2021!

When one door closes, another one opens - we are excited to put on the Polar Circle Marathon in spring 2021!

As we approach the original date of the Polar Circle Marathon 2020, we have no option but to postpone it to April 2021 due to the restrictions imposed by the government in Greenland.

This means there will be not only one, but TWO, Polar Circle Marathons next year!

Be ready and mark your calendars - the Polar Circle Marathon will take place on April 10-11 2021, and then again on October 30-31 2021.

The Polar Circle Marathon showcases Greenland in all its glory, featuring the arctic tundra, the Greenland Ice Sheet, and, hopefully, the waltzing northern lights.

Dear runners,

As you hopefully already know, our newest marathon is fast approaching. Marathon on the Rocks will take place on September 12, 2020 on Bornholm, better known as Sunshine Island by the Danes.

If your 2020 running plans have been put on hold, this could be your last opportunity to make sure your training earns you a new medal. The race is a challenging trail run along the coastal cliffs of the Northern part of the island. It will feature two distances: a marathon and a half marathon.

We are offering both a 4-Day package and a Race Only package. For more information on how to register, click here.

Despite most races being cancelled this year, we are sure to move forward with this one. Keeping the number of runners within the limits allowed and following the guidelines for social gatherings and sports events we can comply with the rules and regulations set by the Danish authorities.

We are thrilled that the 6-night requirement for tourists wanting to visit Denmark has now been removed, so we hope to see even more friendly faces at the race.

Each race is unique and you will be able to enjoy a scenery unlike anything you''ve ever seen before. For this reason, it may be hard to choose just one, so we have come up with a brief description for each race to give you a small taste of what you can expect.

The Icefjord Midnight Marathon is set in the Greenlandic summer, where the sun never sets, which means you will be able to run under the midnight sun. Located north of the Arctic Circle, you will run through an icy paradise along thousands of icebergs.

If you enjoy crispy days and breathtaking nature, then this may be the race for you. You will get the chance to kayak through icebergs, look for whales and learn all about sled dogs.

The Iceland Volcano Marathon will offer you the rare opportunity to run along the rim of the Hverfjall crater in one of earth''s geological hotspots. This epic location filled with black stone and lava fields more closely resembles a lunar landscape than the earth.

After a challenging 2020 with a global lockdown, we have now taken the first steps into 2021. A new year means new hopes. For running and for traveling.
To have the best possible chances of a successful event in China, we have decided to move this years Great Wall Marathon to September. This way we hope that runners from all over the World will be able to join.

So be ready and mark you calendars - The Great Wall Marathon will this year take place 25 September 2021.
This gives you all a few extra months of training before conquering the Wall.

Since its inception in 1999, the Great Wall Marathon has become revered as one of the world''s most challenging marathons.
The Great Wall Marathon event offers three distances: A marathon, half marathon and a 8.5km Fun Run.

Like all Albatros Adventure Marathons, The Great Wall Marathon is designed to be more than just a race. It''s also about enjoying time together with family, friends and other running-minded spirits. Spectators welcome!

This marathon is part of a 6- or 7- day package that will combine classic Beijing with a touch of China outside the great metropolis.

OUR COVID-19 PEACE OF MIND POLICY:

While we remain optimistic that the world will win control over Covid-19 during 2021 there''s obviously still uncertainty and questions for the coming year. We have used the past several months to become as prepared as possible to organize races in the post-corona era and are positive that we can live up to various restrictions and regulations set forth by the authorities in the countries where our races take place. With that said, however, we understand that many of you may still wonder how Covid-19 will effect travelling in the year to come, which is why we have outlined our policy for possible Covid-19 travel restrictions to give you peace of mind while still being able to secure your spot at our races.

-If the race is cancelled by Albatros Adventure Marathons you will receive a full refund of the payments made to Albatros Adventure Marathons.
-If the race is postponed to a later date you will have the choice between moving your entry to the new date or receive a full refund of payments made to Albatros Adventure Marathons.
Note that the decision to cancel or postpone the race will be taken no later than 4 weeks prior to the event, but in most cases the decision will be taken at least 8 weeks in advance.

-If official travel restrictions prohibiting you from travelling to the race destination are in place 30 days before the event you can cancel your booking and receive a full refund of the payments made to Albatros Adventure Marathons.
This includes restrictions disabling you to depart from your home country as well as restrictions banning you from entering the country in which the race takes place due to Covid-19 regulations.
