Data found within 1010data's hosted eMBS dataset (for Agency MBS) reveals an accelerating trend of appraisal-free loan origination in Agency MBS pools. If recent trends hold over the next several months, 1 out of every 10 mortgage loans in Agency MBS pools will have been funded without an appraisal at origination. It appears borrower credit and origination LTV characteristics of such streamlined originations have been consistent overall for the past few years - after an earlier migration to somewhat higher LTV buckets.
