In the world we live in, so much emphasis is placed on the physical, tangible aspects. These are the things that we can see and touch; things we can move, or shape, or accomplish.
Even though many of us focus on the physical life, our "thought-life" is where our reality all begins.
Your psychology drives your behavior.
Your thoughts determine your actions, your feelings, and your emotions. Your mind defines you.
The difference between a person who becomes a champion athlete and one who sits on the sidelines is not just their athletically gifted body. It as
much about their champion mindset. The way they think has a massive impact on their success.
Your most valuable asset is your mind. Just as you are committed to taking care of your body, you have to take care of, and develop your mind. And that means controlling your thoughts. Our thoughts are influenced by many things, and our thinking needs to be protected and constantly refreshed so that we can maintain a healthy, positive perspective.
That means 'bathing' our minds in positive, affirming, and motivational input. Otherwise, no matter how good life is going, we can feel exhausted and overwhelmed. We have to bathe our
minds with positive input every single day, to renew our thinking and stay strong.
Our minds can get quickly gummed up, bogged down and distracted with the constant negative information that comes to us from everywhere. The amount of stimulus bombarding our brains has increased exponentially because of smartphones, the internet, and social media.
Sadly, most of the world's input to our minds is negative. Personally, I have to limit my exposure to "news" given the sensational, negative perspective.
Here's our hope... One of our greatest gifts is the ability to voluntarily CHOOSE our thoughts. So choose to focus on the positive. Don't dwell or engage in the negative, push it out.
Actively search out positive messages in audio series and podcasts to listen to on the way to or from work. Regularly connect with positive people. Make it a daily exercise to bathe your mind in positive thoughts so that it can grow!
Simple as that seems, it's easy to get caught up in "stinkin' thinkin'" You're going to have negative thoughts from time to time. It's
what you do with them that is important.
When we have negative thoughts, we have to replace them with positive thoughts.
I find that counting my blessings helps me a lot, whenever I have a negative thought.
An attitude of Gratitude brings happiness... much more than happiness brings gratitude.
When you think about it, we are all so incredibly blessed! We live in the greatest country in the world, are free, have wealth and conveniences that the majority of the world's population that ever lived on this planet couldn't even dream of! ?
Life remains challenging. Just like a hard workout. But if we choose it to be so, both the mental and the physical challenges will make us stronger!
This week, recommit yourself to staying positive and getting stronger.
